Job Summary

The International Health Systems Program (IHSP) in the Department of Global Health and Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is a multidisciplinary team of faculty, scholars, and experts working to improve health care systems in developing countries to improve health and living standards for the poor and disadvantaged. IHSP research brings together economics, clinical and public health science, politics, ethics and management to increase knowledge of how health systems work. IHSP shares this knowledge through teaching, training, technical dissemination and publications; and applies this knowledge by providing technical assistance improving the health status of those most in need.

IHSP develops regularly scheduled intensive two-week courses, as well as custom-designed programs to fit the unique needs of a country or organization. IHSP programs are designed for senior officials and policymakers who strive to improve the health of citizens in developing and transitional countries. Throughout the calendar year, IHSP offers approximately nine separate courses held both online and in person.

We are seeking a part-time Program Coordinator to join our team for the International Health Systems Program. This position reports to the senior program coordinator and works closely with the program's course director. This position will provide year-round support for IHSP programming with a key focus on supporting summer school programming. They will provide a range of administrative support to the program, the executive education faculty teaching teams, and participants.

Position Description

The Program Coordinator will assist with a variety of administrative duties necessary to plan, deliver and evaluate training and education programs for an international audience. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
  • Provide personalized front-line customer service to faculty, workshop participants, and staff; Work with speakers to organize presentations, readings and day-of logistics for both online and in-person courses.
  • Work with IT and media services, and coordinate necessary technical support for IHSP courses to help ensure success.
  • Work in collaboration with the IHSP team to reserve space, catering, media services, and transportation in accordance with University rules and guidelines.
  • Coordinate course evaluation including data collection and analysis; Incorporate new technologies for improved processes.
  • Execute work with good judgment with team collaboration and coordination.
  • Perform special projects as needed, and other duties as assigned.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a part-time, benefits-eligible position with a 17.5 hour work week. During educational programs and courses, this position will be expected to work above the 17.5 hours per week and will be paid accordingly. This is a hybrid position and this position will be based in Boston, MA. Additional detail pertaining to this position will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, California (exempt staff only), Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, Virginia, and Washington).

PLEASE NOTE: This position has a term date of October 31, 2023 with possibility of extension.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant experience is required; a combination of education and experience may be considered

Additional Qualifications and Skills

The following job-specific skills and competencies are preferred:
  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
  • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with web applications and social media
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Experience communicating effectively with international audiences
  • Experience demonstrating good judgement, staying organized, and prioritizing a high-volume work load with multiple and conflicting interests
  • Demonstrated success at working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision, and handling information with discretion
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
