Under the supervision of the GEAR UP Director, the Data and Excellence Coordinator will be responsible for leading and implementing efforts to maximize the effectiveness of GEAR UP programs through coordinating ongoing evaluation, data management, and grant reporting efforts. The Coordinator will contribute to data-informed and continuous quality improvement across programs. The Coordinator will provide leadership in the preparation, submission, and presentation of reports per grant requirements and for various stakeholders. Based on program needs as determined by the GEAR UP Director, this position may be required to work out of various locations including the CSUF campus, GEAR UP target schools, or other locations.
  • Please be aware that funding for this position is awarded through a Grant/Contract over a specified period. Employment for this position beyond current Grant/Contract funding is contingent upon continued funding.

Essential Duties

  • Performs administrative efforts related to evaluation of grant-funded outreach programs.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of multi-part program assessment requiring complex data collection and analysis.
  • Designs, develops, and/or implements assessment instruments including surveys and interview protocols, and interprets and guides continuous learning and quality improvement efforts.
  • Collaborates and fosters partnerships with stakeholders and other program evaluators including external educational and community organizations.
  • Oversees documentation, data collection and management systems; assures that data collection and reporting comply with federal policies.
  • Designs, implements, oversees, and/or maintains data tracking systems to achieve established objectives.
  • Independently analyzes quantitative and qualitative evaluation data and makes decisions regarding techniques and methods.
  • Anticipates and troubleshoots opportunities and challenges in executing program services, outreach, and evaluation activities; develops recommendations based on data analysis.
  • Provides data analysis and reports to stakeholders regarding trends and updates. Represents CSUF GEAR UP in various community meetings; presents reports on data analysis to a variety of audiences.
  • Leads in the innovation and implementation of strategies to explore, report, and interpret quantitative and qualitative information including clear and concise presentations, videos, infographics, and reports.
  • Recruits and provides leadership and supervision to a team of assistants to support related efforts.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in data/grant management, analysis, evaluation, statistics or research, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Access, Excel, Qualtrics, pivot tables or other data analysis and management solutions.
  • Knowledge of theoretical concepts of educational outreach activities, educational equity, and/or cultural issues in education and specific experience in one or more of these areas.
  • Proven experience in survey development, administration, and analysis; familiarity with focus group administration and analysis or research interview administration and analysis.
  • Knowledge of qualitative research techniques, and demonstrated experience in planning, designing, implementing, analyzing, and reporting quantitative and qualitative research efforts.
  • Excellent communication skills; written, verbal, and public speaking.
  • Ability to focus on tactical projects with strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficiency in utilizing SPSS, STATA, R, ATLAS.ti, NVIVO,and other data analysis solutions.
  • Knowledge of and ability to independently execute statistical techniques.
  • Familiarity with the various segments of post-secondary institutions and opportunities for low income and underrepresented students.
  • Experience in overcoming educational barriers similar to those confronting project’s participants.
  • Experience in leading a team or providing guidance on the work of others.
  • Ability to speak and write in Spanish.
EDUCATION:
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in education, public policy, statistics, economics, sociology, or relevant discipline.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
