SUMMARY:

The Data Specialist is responsible for ensuring that data is effectively used to drive decision- making in the Homeless Services and Workforce Development programs. Reporting directly to the Director of Data & Reporting, he or she is accountable for both ensuring that the data being used in the program is both accurate and timely, and that the data is effectively utilized and integrated by the management team to drive program quality.

The Data Specialist oversees the management and implementation of programs data system application for tracking, reporting, and analyzing information about each program. He or she is responsible for training staff on the use of data, providing technical support and troubleshooting for users, ensuring the accuracy of data, and reporting and analyzing information. Other projects may include research, database design and testing, and project management.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Provides in-house expertise and technical support to end-users on database, record-keeping systems, and other analytic questions.
  • Prepares quantitative and other reports and data presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Builds creative reports and communication formats to drive work management and data clean-up prior to major Client Track Service Point, and Salesforce reporting deadlines.
  • Oversees all Homeless Services and Workforce program dashboards
  • Trains user with varying degrees of knowledge to effectively utilize the agency database systems, and on data-based decision-making.
  • Completes ongoing assessments (formal and informal) of database user skill-levels and determines need for support/training.
  • Coordinates the design of solutions to complex analytic questions.
  • All other duties that may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree required; Masters Degree preferred.
  • Excellent oral, written, and quantitative skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to quickly and clearly synthesize information.
  • Exceptional ability to use data to make decisions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office specifically Excel and Access.
  • Understanding and respect for confidentiality.
  • Desire and ability to work as a team member.
