College and Area Information:

Eastern Arizona College District Offices are located in Thatcher, Arizona, a beautiful rural area with easy

access to arid as well as mountainous recreation. The College is located approximately 125 miles

northeast of Tucson and 165 miles southeast of Phoenix. EAC is a comprehensive community college

offering five associate degrees across nearly 50 programs of study. Eastern Arizona College is the oldest

member of the Arizona Community College system and is fully accredited by The Higher Learning

Commission.

Position Summary and Organizational Relationship:

The Director of Athletics is responsible for the overall management of the Eastern Arizona College

athletics programs and reports directly to the Dean of Student Services. The Director of Athletics provides

exceptional leadership and management skills while supervising all full-time coaches and support staff,

student athletes, and part-time staff. Specific duties include supervision of the sports programs, HPE

courses, web page and social media management, following budgetary and institutional guidelines,

ACCAC, Region I, and NJCAA policies.

Provide administrative direction in all daily operation of the athletic department recruiting, practice,

competition, home events, and academic monitoring while fostering a strong academic and competitive

environment reflecting core institutional values.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in athletic administration or closely related field.
  • Previous work experience in athletic administration.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in Title IX, FERPA, Ethics, and Cyber Security issues related to the

athletic department.

  • Strong administration skills allowing for the understanding of college athletics, time management,

multi-tasking to balance daily tasks, attend meetings, and following policies

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, empathy, compassion, and supervisory skills
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diversity of our student population
  • A clear understanding of and commitment to the community college philosophy and mission of

Eastern Arizona College

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both on-

campus and off-campus constituents.

  • Must maintain a valid, current driver’s license.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of previous work experience in athletic administration.
  • Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations
  • High level of professionalism, character, honesty, and integrity
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic and financial planning as well as maintaining budgets for

multiple programs.

  • Knowledgeable in social media, web page content, and live streaming processes and equipment
  • Successful experience in effective fundraising and development of donor relationships
  • Good composure and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate proven ability to mentor coaches and staff

Essential Functions:

  • Supervision and management of all staff (FT and PT) in the operation of the Athletic and Health

Physical Education departments.

  • Management and monitoring of multiple budgets making sure they are fiscally responsible.
  • Manage sports information duties of web page updates, game reports, media updates,

schedules/rosters, and game streaming

  • Sustain a culture of transparency, respect, and professionalism in all departments under the

leadership of the Athletic Director.

  • Represent EAC Athletics while in attendance of all campus, ACCAC, Region I, and NJCAA

meetings.

  • Provide leadership in the Athletic Booster Club while providing community and financial support

to supplement and strengthen EAC athletic programs.

  • Direct individual athletic programs in fundraising effort to supplement budget needs.
  • Supervise staff to complete administrative duties, conduct performance evaluations, make

recommendations to hire or dismiss employees.

  • Issue discipline for both staff and students that are not following institutional policies found in the

policy manual.

  • Encourage and maintain an atmosphere for good sportsmanship, code of conduct for athletic

excellence, successful home events, and student/fan engagement

  • Maintain compliance with all required state, league, and federal policies
  • Create positive, productive relationships with faculty and campus staff
  • Support the professional development of all staff members while acknowledging their

accomplishments to promote a positive environment.

  • Create and promote an environment that supports competitive success, academic success, and

well-being among student athletes.

  • Oversight of Health & Physical Education courses offered by EAC

Administration Office, located at 8274 Six Shooter Canyon Road, Globe, AZ (Gila Pueblo Campus); and Payson Campus Administration Office, located
