Position Overview:

bwtech@UMBC Research & Technology Park is seeking an experienced professional to deliver facilities & leasing support to bwtech companies, including early-stage incubator companies.

bwtech@UMBC, a 525,000 square foot research and technology park, houses 130 tenants and operates two technology incubators (life sciences, cybersecurity/lT) across two separate campuses. bwtech@UMBC's mission is to support entrepreneurship and the research and technology commercialization goals of UMBC.

Telework:

A hybrid telework schedule may be available for Maryland residents.



Responsibilities:

The Director of Facilities & Leasing will be responsible for overseeing bwtech's day to day operations of 170,000 SF commercial real estate property housing 40 incubator, emerging technology, and university entities. The position will also manage leasing operations for bwtech@UMBC incubator spaces located at 5520 Research Park Drive, North Campus (adjacent to the main UMBC campus).

Specific duties include:

  • Manage all leasing related activities of bwtech@UMBC Research and Technology Park including negotiating leases and licenses and preparation of legal documents for Assistant Attorney General approval.
  • Prepares operating, facilities renewal, capital outlay, and renovations budgets and monitors revenue flow.
  • Develops the construction/renovation schedule, monitors all construction and tenant improvement projects.
  • Manages security, housekeeping, and landscaping contracts and provides specifications as needed.
  • Direct activities of bwtech@UMBC South maintenance, construction services, administrative personnel, and contractors.
  • Manage bwtech@UMBC North Campus area maintenance and coordinate activities with Research Park building owners.
  • In coordination with Entrepreneurs in Residence conducts periodic business reviews of resident and prospect companies.
  • Assists Executive Director and bwtech@UMBC staff on expansion of park programming and event planning.
  • Other UMBC Research Park Corporation responsibilities as needed.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in a related field
  • Four years of facilities and real property management experience
  • Must be motivational and good with details, follow through and interpersonal relationships

Preferred Qualifications:

BOMA Certification
