Title: Director of Prevention & Outreach
Summary: Through our continuous prevention, outreach and education efforts, Safe Harbor aims to raise
awareness about the complexities of domestic violence, as well as build partnerships with community
allies to better reach those who need services. The Director of Prevention & Outreach manages Safe Harbor’s
prevention, outreach, and volunteer efforts through strategic community-based programming. This is a full
time, salaried, exempt position eligible for full benefits.
Reports To: Director of Programs
Direct Reports: Prevention Coordinators, Volunteer Coordinator, Outreach Coordinators

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision to Prevention, Outreach, and Volunteer Coordinators.
  • Develop, communicate, and execute prevention, outreach, and volunteer goals, best practices and
consistency for programs and initiatives through regular collaborative team meetings, staffings and
project management.
  • Provide leadership in team meetings and individual meetings with employees.
  • Train Coordinators on Safe Harbor presentations, education, outreach, REP prevention curriculum,
branding, social media, stats methods, etc.
  • Serve as a resource for Coordinators regarding collaborative relationships with community partners,
scheduling trainings, and outreach within communities.
  • Oversee coordination, planning and development of prevention, outreach and volunteer programs.
  • Insure overall quality, integrity, consistency and content of presentations, curriculum, social media, and
external communications.
  • Develop programming and content as needed with input, feedback and research assistance from
Coordinators.
  • Conduct public speaking and training in the area of Domestic Violence and on agency services.
  • Oversee quality assurance of monthly stats:
  • Developing “best practices” for stats methods and train Coordinators on expectations
  • Work with supervisor and grants manager on priorities and needs with stats
  • Actively pursue opportunities and partnerships to create further community awareness surrounding the
issue of domestic violence.
  • Serve on Safe Harbor’s communication team, providing leadership and direction on outreach and
external communications.
  • Participate in Safe Harbor staff meetings, team meetings, trainings, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Council.
  • Lend enthusiastic support to agency’s vision, mission, principles and policies.
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.



Qualifications:
• Minimum education: Bachelors Degree
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to relate to individuals and groups from a diversity of backgrounds and communities
  • Possess insight and self-awareness to be confident in the role, with knowledge of personal capabilities
and limitations
  • Knowledge of the group process and the ability to lead or organize a wide variety of group formats
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent management and leadership skills to train/manage/lead employees on team and to
manage/direct team projects.
  • Experience with public speaking, training, teaching and/or facilitation
  • Proficiency and experience navigating online platforms for public outreach, including social media,
website management, and electronic communications
  • Ability to work well in a team setting, and be able to work together with other staff to gain perspective
and assistance with collaborative projects
  • Possession of a valid SC Driver’s License and a reliable transportation for occasional travel (15%-20%)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evening and weekend hours

  • Preferred Qualifications:
• Management skills/experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of trauma informed services, dynamics of domestic violence and/or
barriers that survivors often face.
  • Knowledge of concepts of intersectionality and transformative justice.
