Position type: Full-time regular employee; Exempt.

Position location: This position will require you to work from the office. This is not a remote role.

The Director of Quality and Safety Role will be responsible for the following:

Summary: Provides and oversees quality functions that ensure products and services conform to engineering specifications and meet customer quality requirements. Provides and oversees safety functions to ensure that personnel, equipment, and the environment are protected and that the company is in compliance with national, state, and local safety and environmental regulations and requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversees and manages ISO 9001 and/or other quality/certification systems and takes necessary actions to ensure compliance.
  • Reports/tracks any significant deviations from quality standards and recommends corrective action as necessary to management.
  • Interacts with customers and reviews contracts to determine quality requirements and gathers feedback on current level of customer quality perception.
  • Establishes and presents regular training sessions for employees on quality processes and procedures.
  • Works with all employees, vendors, partners, and customers to build an environment of continual improvement.
  • Participates in new product development to ensure proper quality assurance and control plans are implemented and documented.
  • Oversees inventory, receiving, and inspection functions.
  • Interfaces with vendors, maintains approved vendor list, and reports on vendor performance.
  • Supports manufacturing by assisting in creating and approving travelers, determining inspection requirements. Oversees the manufacturing process related to quality control and production.
  • Maintains problem solving and troubleshooting skills for manufacturing concerns/issues.
  • Manages customer complaints related to production and quality control.
  • Participates as an active member in ISO, design, manufacturing, safety, process development, and management teams.
  • Oversees EH&S functions, including training, incident and near miss reporting, hazard communication, job safety analysis, and OSHA compliance.
  • Maintains and oversees Document Control systems and functions, Calibration, Internal Auditing, Management Review, and Material Review Board.
  • Provides support in improving efficiencies related to Quality Control and Production Departments
  • May support product testing activities including test planning, FMEA generation and review, test monitoring and documentation, data collection and reporting, and troubleshooting.
  • Hires and manages employees as required to properly execute Quality and Safety functions.

Education/Experience:

Degree from four-year College or University in an applicable engineering or technical field preferred; and 6 to 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Outlook; Project Management and Scheduling software, Inventory software, MRP software, and accounting software.
