Director of Therapeutic Recreation Job at South Shore Medical Center
We are a Suffolk County adult care facility seeking a creative, experienced Director of Therapeutic Recreation to join our dynamic team. The Recreation Director will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of a therapeutic recreation program that improves the quality of life for all residents.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Create and implement recreational activities and programs.
- Oversee team of activity coordinators
- Ensure all documentation of resident care plans, recreation participation and progress is documented in accordance with NYS guidelines
- Oversee coordination of transportation for residents to and from activities
Qualifications:
- Must possess a bachelor degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Creative Arts Therapist, Music Therapy or similar applicable field
- Experience in long-term/short term recreation programming
- Knowledge of MDS/Care Planning
- Knowledge of CMS/New York State regulations, including survey compliance
- Strong organization and multi-tasking skills
- A strong empathy with and commitment to helping the senior population
- Ability to work efficiently across various departments
- High-level of creativity, artistic ability and communication skills
