Director of Software Architecture

The primary responsibilities of the Director of Software Architecture are to provide hands-on architecture leadership to our software engineering teams, be a close collaborator and trusted advisor to the R&D LT, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, robust, and scalable solutions.

This person will be a thought-leader, with deep technical expertise, real-world business common sense, and the ability to collaborate across functions. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of distributed systems, data integration at scale, and cloud architectures. The position requires technical expertise in multiple areas, exceptional communication and negotiation skills, and experience guiding software engineers in the implementation of production quality solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

• Establish architectural direction to the development team(s) in the implementation of large-scale, event driven systems in support of analytic outcomes.
• Run the Architecture Review Board and contribute in Enterprise technical leadership forums
• Establish reference architectures and paved path artifacts for key technical capabilities that include observability, deployment automation, security, and scalability
• Lead the construction of early prototypes and validate them for technical design and architectural fitness to stated requirements
• Lead a sub team of architects to evangelize development best practices, and implement architectural blueprints
• Drive reuse strategy across programs by collaborating with R&D teams and business leaders
• Work with program teams to establish technology roadmaps and drive execution

Skills:

• A passion for technology and innovation
• Minimum 10 years of experience in design and development of enterprise software products
• Minimum 5 years in a senior architect role with Enterprise responsibility
• Strong object-oriented design and programming skills with multiple languages
• Strong technical background across multiple domains, application, data, integration, cloud, AI/ML
• Real-world experience in building large scale architecture using serverless, autoscaling, and cloud native applications
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to both business and engineering audiences
• Ability to make effective technology decisions across a wide landscape of options
• Positive and collaborative attitude with skills in persuasion and conflict resolution
• Ability to balance principles with pragmatism to deliver quality software

• PaaS/SaaS in AWS/Azure
• Multiple programming languages .Net, Go, JavaScript, Python, SQL
• Event processing (Kafka)
• Multiple data stores (OLTP, Elasticsearch, Cloud Data Warehousing, NoSQL, Cloud Storage)
• Containers and related technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Front end frameworks (React, Angular)
• CI/CD and automated tollgates (SonarQube)
• Architecture modeling tools and collaborative documentation (Confluence)
