Job Purpose: Assist IT Manager in a fast pace environment, with monitoring, configuring and maintaining System and Network Infrastructure.

Install, setup, and monitor local area network (LAN). Perform a variety of maintenance, evaluation, installation, and training tasks to ensure LAN performance meets company and user requirements. Install and maintain WMS equipment (RF Scanners, RF Computers, RF Vocal devices), with setup, install and repairs, to minimize downtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer network workstations, utilizing one or more TCP/IP or non-TCP/IP networking protocols and/or one or more UNIX-based or non-UNIX based operating systems.
  • Evaluate and/or recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software;
  • Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions.
  • Install, configure, and maintain personal computers, Windows workstations, file servers, Ethernet networks, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems; adds or upgrades and configures modems, disk drives, data acquisition boards, CD ROM units, printers, and related equipment.
  • RF, vocal and other wireless device setup and implementation.
  • Perform and/or oversee software and application development, installation, and upgrades.
  • Maintain site licenses for department/organization.
  • Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
  • Develop and conduct various training and instruction for system users on operating systems, relational databases, and other applications; assist users in maximizing use of networks and computing systems.
  • Anticipate communication and networking problems and implement preventive measures.
  • Establish and perform maintenance programs following company and vendor standards.
  • Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
  • Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
  • Document network problems and resolutions for future reference.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of a range of computer networking systems and languages to include UNIX/AIX, Windows Server, or similar computer networks. Knowledge of computing and network hardware and peripheral equipment. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel. Ability to install, configure, and maintain personal computers, networks, and related hardware and software. Knowledge of federal copyright laws as they pertain to the use of computer software. Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques. Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational problems. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Ability to provide technical training to end users. Ability to learn and support new systems and applications. Work with users requires interpersonal skills.

Assisting with general IT administrative activities, such as; user account maintenance (Win2003 AD), monitoring general infrastructure health, maintaining scheduled backups, reviewing system logs, etc.

Assisting with configuration, deployment and maintenance of infrastructure related hardware and software; such as servers, workstations, printers, routers, phones, etc. Assisting end users as needed, with hardware and software related problems. Documenting infrastructure related processes and procedures.

Warehouse experience is a Plus! Logistics understanding and technology related to warehousing, like RF and vocal picking devices.

Some responsibilities will require the individual to work at heights over 30ft and in temperatures as low as 33 degrees for an extended period of time.

Required knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

2 + years experience in IT related field Working knowledge of Windows 2003 AD & Exchange Working knowledge of Windows XP and Office 2003 suite Familiar with basic network technologies such as switches, routers, etc. Strong written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to explain technical concept in non-technical terms. The Ability to work independently to accomplish tasks. Able to work as part of a team to achieve common goals. Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.

Scheduling Requirement:

Weekend Hours is a must and Overtime may be required. Minimal amount of travel required.

Pay: From $47,500.00 per year
