Engineer, Experienced Job at Naval Nuclear Laboratory
The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an experienced Engineer to join our Nuclear Engineering team in beautiful upstate New York! Are you interested in supporting unique radiological work in a fast-paced laboratory setting? If so, this may be the role for you!
Within this role, the selected Engineer will be trained as an engineer of radiological work and provide subject matter expertise in regulated areas such as radiological controls, environmental, safety and health, quality assurance, waste management and emergency planning to personnel to support safe and compliant execution of work activities. The selected Engineer will have the opportunity to perform development of programs or projects to ensure compliance with operational, design, regulatory and Program requirements. Work may also include providing interface, independent oversight and assessment of KAPL, Subcontractor, material evaluations, design reviews, development of engineering methods, major site systems, and facility operations.

Job Requirements:
Senior:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of relevant experience; or
- Master’s degree in a degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or
- Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part I qualified or EDO and two years as EOOW in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
- Three years as SRE plus Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and Fuel and Barrier Shift Supervisor (ECF only) or SRE qualified and six years of experience
Principal:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of nine years of relevant experience; or
- Master’s degree in a degree in a technical, engineering or science-related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of seven years of relevant experience; or
- Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part II qualified or qualified SIT and three years as EOOW in the Nuclear Operations Program; or
- Current or previous CRE Qualification, or six years as SRE, or SRE qualified with nine years of experience
