Engineer V - Performs appropriate testing and commissioning of the protective relay and control systems associated within substation facilities. Applies the appropriate maintenance guidelines, procedures and practices to maintain and enhance the life cycle of protective relay and control systems. Performs the necessary corrective actions associated with the maintenance of protective relay and control systems to mitigate adverse impacts to the transmission system.

This position is technically capable of performing activities in facilities from 12kV - 500kV and will be responsible for developing group testing policies and procedures, group safe work practices and associated test forms, as needed. The success of the position maximizes the reliability and continuity of electric service and directly affects customer satisfaction, reliability and cost.

Engineer VI - Field engineer the installation and testing of the protective relay and control equipment in the corporation's substation facilities. Also provide technical support utilizing the application of engineering principles for the troubleshooting and maintenance of the protection and control equipment.

This position will also develop testing standards, policies, and procedures for transmission and distribution protective relaying and bank metering for the test group and provide technical direction to Test Engineers, the Protection and Control department and the standards committee. The Principal Engineer will also ensure that replacement relays, meters, etc. meet all standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.

Experience: Engineer V - Eight years (six years with a PE) of substation experience with at least six years (four years with a PE) in commissioning of protective relay and control systems in an electric utility environment. Engineer VI - Ten years (eight with PE) of substation test experience.
Equivalent Experience: Bachelor or Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and fourteen years (eight years with a PE) of substation experience with at least ten years (six years with a PE) in commissioning of protective relay and control systems in an electric utility environment or Twenty years of direct experience in commissioning protective relay and control systems in an electric utility environment.

Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Obtaining or actively pursuing a Professional Engineer License.

Specialized Skills (e.g., typing, computers, software, tools and equipment uses, etc.): Strong communication skills, excellent organizational and time management skills, analytical and problem solving skills, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by assignments. Working knowledge of using computer systems and relay test equipment to calibrate protective relay and metering systems. Must be able to read and interpret electrical drawings including but not limited to one-line diagrams, elementary drawings, wiring and connection drawing, and equipment schematics. Must be proficient with the protection equipment and the operational procedures and practices that are applicable to 12kV - 500kV electrical systems.

Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.
