GES has an opening for a Cost Estimator in wide variety of environmental remediation construction work. The Cost Estimator position works closely with Sector Leads, Business Development Leads and Proposal Managers to determine the labor, materials, equipment and subcontractor costs associated with completing the scope of work for Request for Proposal (RFP) and Bid opportunities. The position also entails supporting ongoing projects with change order preparation, field site visits and inspections and other duties assigned by project management.
RFP and bid opportunity types include but not limited to:
- Remediation system trenching, installation, upgrades, construction;
- Remedial excavations;
- Sheet pile wall installation and construction;
- Dewatering;
- Sub slab depressurization system design, installation, OM&M;
- Soil stabilization; and/or
- Remediation OM&M services.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze drawings, specifications and other documentation for preparation of comprehensive cost estimates and questions for submittal.
- Complete quantity take-offs and understand market labor and commodity conditions.
- Develop and propose means and methods and assess risks.
- Prepare, issue, receive and review supplier and subcontractor proposals and pricing.
- Attend bid walks or conduct site visits for analysis of conditions and assessment of risk.
- Assembles bid-files including all development information that was utilized in preparation of the estimates.
- Deliver and present estimates on time for management review.
- Develop project controls including cost tracking and CPM schedules.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate contact information for suppliers, subcontractors and specialty contractors.
- Attend and participate in pre-construction meetings with clients, owners, representatives, staff, sub trades, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Acts as a resource for project management by providing cost information and developing cost estimates for changes in the work.
Qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of environmental remediation construction methods, processes and management practices with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Organized, efficient and responsive to the needs of internal and external clients alike.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, work with minimal supervision and participate in and facilitate group meetings.
- 10+ years estimating in environmental remediation construction methods. Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Skills
- Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, Project.
- Experience with estimating software (Construction Link).
- AutoCAD experience a plus.
