We need you to be the newest environmental specialist inside the Ohio EPA’s Office of Compliance Assistance and Pollution Prevention.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to join our team as an environmental specialist inside the Office of Compliance Assistance and Pollution Prevention (OCAPP), located in our Northeast District Office in the unparalleled Summit County.

Working alongside the other amazing divisions and employees at Ohio EPA, you will act as a lead worker and coordinator of agency compliance assistance programs and integrate those into agency compliance assistance functions, while leading the day-to-day operations of the compliance assistance field staff within OCAPP.

You’ll lead staff in assistance request for qualifying businesses by providing multi-media technical assistance with state and federal environmental regulations and requirements like specific processes for wastes, the types of control technologies for processes and methods for estimating emissions, discharges, quantities of waste and sampling results.

You will lead and assist OCAPP staff with conducting site visits and meetings upon request in order to assess compliance status or to gather technical data to assist businesses with regulatory requirements. You’ll log and file reports and letters submitted by entities detailing results of site visits and recommendations for achieving compliance.

You will lead the charge with the development and maintenance of printed and electronic outreach products, the development of written publications, website and outreach. You’ll also lead the development and implementation of online tutorials and other software tools for compliance and sustainability-related topics.

Knowledge of engineering or chemistry, physics, biology, environmental science, geology, hydrogeology &/or other comparable physical or health science field &/or mathematics; employee training & development*; supervisory principles/techniques*; applicable state &/or federal laws, rules, regulations & standards relative to environmental control &/or public health area assigned*; environmental inspection & investigation techniques & procedures; computer simulations & predictive modeling. Skill in operation of laboratory sampling &/or surveying equipment; operation of video display terminal or personal computer.
