EV Warranty Engineer Job at Dana Incorporated
Job Purpose
The main responsibilities of this Warranty Engineer position cover the application of Dana EV propulsion systems and subsystems products and technologies to customers across multiple platforms of on highway, off highway and powersports.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Duties:
- Support the EV Warranty process, which includes, retrieving data from the customer web sites, analyzing data, distributing data to the plants and engineering for development of corrective actions based on data.
- Support customer communications within Dana and Customers. Warranty engineer will work with the facility quality and production process representatives on specific issues and works directly with the engineering community.
- EV Warranty engineer will assist in warranty data analysis to escalate emerging issues and perform Pareto analysis.
- Warranty engineer will develop inspection and testing procedures of returned components to determine root cause analysis.
- Support in creation as needed of field documentation, manuals, and diagnostics fault trees.
- Conduct Mechanical and Electrical inspection & testing of returned warranty components to determine failure modes and corrective actions and distributes field information to facilitate tracking warranty and customer satisfaction concerns.
- Work with the facility quality and engineering on failure modes to develop root cause analysis and read across activities.
- Ensure lessons learned are communicated and applied in controlled documents, e.g., control plans, FMEAs (Design and Process), operator instructions, design guidelines, etc.
- The warranty engineer will support customer education and response for product usage, failure modes and corrective actions .
- Supports as needed in fault analysis audits of suppliers and production locations; provides feedback on quality, and production improvement recommendations to suppliers and manufacturing locations.
Minimum Qualifications Desired:
- Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical or a related field of study in electrical mechanical engineering preferred or may consider equivalent education and experience.
- Demonstrated the mechanical & electrical skills needed to identify products as well as product deficiencies
- Past warranty or Tech Service experience would be preferred
- Electrified drivetrain component product and application background would be preferred
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a team environment including root cause analysis experience utilizing “8D’s”, “5 Why” and/or Red X tools
- Demonstrated competence in quality related statistics and process controls
- Must have strong analytical skills
- Knowledge and usage of electrical tools, voltmeters ,oscilloscopes …etc
- Motivated individual who accepts responsibility
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Strong computer software skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Must be able to travel internationally when needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience / familiarity with electrification products and driveline components. SMT, Microelectronics experience/knowledge.
- Prior experience in diagnostic test engineering roles
- Experience with CANalyzer software’s and functionality.
- Familiar with IATF 16949 requirements or equivalent.
- Knowledge of DFMEA and PFMEA.
- Knowledge of functional safety; mechanical systems; and programming.
- Advanced problem-solving training such as RED X.
