Event Cook Job at Always Fishing Hospitality Group
On-site Event Cook:
Always Fishing Hospitality Group is looking to hire a commendable cook to work events in various locations. You will work for hand and hand with the Head Chef to ensure all of the food is produced properly and safely. Top candidates are creative, service-oriented, and level-headed.
On-site Event Cook’s Duties and Responsibilities:
- Being punctual and professional, properly dressed, and with a knife kit.
- Meeting with the Head Chef or management team at the beginning of shift to go over roles and responsibilities and event specifics. ( Clock in via Nowsta upon arrival)
- Unload company vehicles in an organized manner taking direction from Head Chef and/or Service Manager
- Perform set-up duties including but not limited to, setting up the kitchen as a team and functioning work stations.
- Attend a pre-event meeting to review the menu, timelines, and dietary constraints of menu items
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, storage, sanitizing stations, dirty bins, and common use areas.
- Cook, reheat, plate, and garnish a variety of different foods in bulk quantities
- Maintaining communication with your Head Chef and team while maintaining your given tasks
- Perform breakdown duties including but not limited to breakdown tables, bars, kitchen, cleaning and organizing the kitchen for load out, placing items in the correct bins for load out. Packing food, stack rentals together for pick up, emptying trash, sweeping and mopping as needed
- Load company vehicles at the conclusion of the event in an organized manner taking direction from the Head Chef and/or Service Manager.
On-site Event Cook’s Qualifications:
- Preferably have at least 1-year experience working in a restaurant, commercial kitchen, hotel, or catering company\Have a general understanding of good food presentation
- Ability to taste everything and adjust seasoning as needed
- Have a passion for cooking
- Responsible and hardworking with a desire to learn
- Knife skills, cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail are a must
- Being a self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team
- Must have a great attitude, be a team player, and have the ability to communicate with coworkers & customers
- Must have a food handler certification
- Basic knowledge of standard prep items like making stocks, sauces, soups, puree’s, breading things, etc
- Willingness to perform additional duties to facilitate the event's success, as needed.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid California driver's license & clean driving record (a plus)
- Ability to exert physical effort in transporting and placement of tables, chairs, trays, etc.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
