Facilities Manager (Lower Fairfield County, CT) Job at Family Centers
Family Centers is looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee all building-related activities for our multiple sites in Stamford, Greenwich and Darien. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer for Family Centers Inc. a well-established non-profit agency, the selected candidate will be responsible for preserving the conditions of our infrastructure and ensuring that facilities are safe and well-functioning. The ideal candidate will be well-organized and able to optimize the use of space and equipment while reducing operating costs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Building and Facilities Management
- Inspect buildings’ structure and equipment and determine the need for repairs, maintenance, or renovations to meet health and safety standards
- Ensure that the sites are clean and maintained according to regulations and company policy and procedures
- Manage activities such as waste removal, building security, cleaning, etc.
- Plan and coordinate installations (telecommunications, heat, electricity etc.) and refurbishments
- Allocate office space according to needs
- Oversee building and grounds maintenance
- Review utility consumption and strive to minimize costs
- Operate and maintain custodial functions as needed
Vendor Management
- Negotiate with outside vendors on service agreements, supplies, repairs, and other services
- Maintain ongoing communication with contractors, clients, and internal colleagues
- Manage and reviews service contracts
- Monitor work by vendors and contractors
Safety
- Oversee emergency preparedness procedures and implementation
- Recommend maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and facility design modifications
- Implement workplace safety precautions to employees
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, and assist with energy management
- Other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent with at least 5 years related experience
- Knowledge of general maintenance methods, operating requirements, and safety precautions related to facilities management
- Knowledge of OSHA and other environmental regulations
- Solid mechanical skills and working knowledge of plumbing, HVAC and other building systems
- Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities best practices. Demonstrated proficiency with repair tools and techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak with all levels of employees, guests, vendors, and team members
- Strong time management, organization, and prioritization abilities
- Keen attention to detail and efficient problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift least 50 pounds and ability to be on foot as needed for periods of time
- Proven analytical/critical thinking
- Strong project management skills
- Customer service orientation
- Computer proficiency
Preferred Education and Experience:
- College degree in Facility Management, Business, Information Technology, or Engineering
- Facilities Management certification
- For success of this role, prefer candidate with ability to quickly arrive at the sites in emergency situations.
