The Farm Manager contributes to our mission by providing leadership and direction for barn employees, providing care for pigs, and producing a quality meat product right in our rural community that feeds the world.
As a Farm Manager, a typical day may include the following:
- Responsible for a 2,500 head farrow to wean sow farm near Mantorville, Minnesota
- Oversee and be actively involved in various sections of the farm including breeding, farrowing, and weaning piglets
- Ensure operational aspects of farm are taken care of appropriately including making sure equipment is functioning properly, feed systems and feed quality are monitored, and maintenance and repairs and completed.
- Responsible for financial success of farm-overseeing payroll, supplies, maintenance/repair budgets, and production reports
- Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner with livestock and employees
- Balance team and individual responsibilities, put success of team before own interests and supports everyone’s efforts to succeed
- Develop staff to reach their fullest potential, train staff in various areas of the farm
- Delegate work assignments and responsibilities to ensure farm is ran to the best of its ability
- Complete paperwork, record keeping, and farm ordering
- Understand and follow WFR’s bio-security protocol and enforce bio-security with all staff, must shower in and out
- Communicate effectively with the WFR Swine Management Team

- You like to be physically active and can be on feet for 8 to 10 hours a day, with ability to squat, bend, kneel, lift up to 50 pounds, pull and push objects
- You are punctual, dependable, and ethical
- You communicate well both written and verbally
- You are able to lead a diverse team of 8-10 people
- You are a self-starter and can reach out to the WFR Swine Management team and integrator supervisor for guidance as needed
- You are able to work rotating weekends and holidays to make sure the livestock are cared for
