Field Engineer (entry level) Job at Harrison Western
Harrison Western was founded in 1968 and has provided superior design and construction services to the mining and civil industries for over 50 years. Additionally, Underground Infrastructure Technologies, LLC (UIT), a division of Harrison Western, is a full-service utility contractor specializing in trenchless technologies. UIT performs wet and dry utility installations utilizing both trenchless technologies and open cut excavation to complete projects, large or small in multiple geographic markets. Headquartered in Lakewood, Colorado, we have completed over $2 billion of mining and construction development projects that range geographically from the Artic to the Andes.
We are currently looking for entry level Field Engineers to join our team. Field Engineers ensure the job stays on schedule and provides support to Operations and Project Engineers. Organization, flexibility, outstanding customer focus, strong communication, and ability to multitask are important in performing duties of this project/field-based role. This position is critical to the success of Harrison Western.
Responsibilities:
- Supports operations/crews in the installation of work activities by assisting in the understanding of drawings and specifications
- Ensure proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are worn
- Follow all health and safety policy and regulations
- Coordinate utility locates in timely manner and update as needed
- Participate in site investigations, project handoff and start-up, update, and closeout meetings as needed
- Assist Project Manager in creating, updating, and utilizing schedule information to help determine required materials, subcontractor scheduling, staffing, and other aspects of project management
- Help in preparing, organizing, and coordinating RFI, submittal, and invoicing documents related to assigned scope of work
- Inventory, organize, procure, and maintain materials and tooling for work activities
- Assist in determining pricing options for potential change orders
- Assist Estimating department in plan take offs, spec review, cost gathering, preparation of estimates and proposals
- Solicit new bidding opportunities, research plans for potential opportunities
- Perform archive filing and historical cost data gathering
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Extensive travel and presence at different jobsites throughout the United States required
Required Skills:
- Detail oriented sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
- Applicable mathematical skills
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly
- Proven positive and professional attitude
- Strong customer service and multi-tasking skills
- Current driver’s license
- Background, Motor Vehicle Record, and Drug Screening
- Travel required
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel required. B2W, CAD, and/or MS Project experience a plus
Education
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or similar or equivalent experience
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range $60,000 to $75,000 DOE
