Job Duties

Supervise a crew of utility locate technicians. Manage workloads, complete field audits, and assist technicians with difficult field locates. Responsible for managing equipment and supplies and vehicle upkeep. Hold weekly safety meetings and perform routine safety audits Responsible for coaching, resolving issues and serving as a link between subordinates and upper management.

75% of job time is spent in a field environment with administrative work required. Exposure to field hazards such as walking on uneven terrain in dirt, grass or on streets and sidewalks. Occasional lifting of materials up to 50 pounds required. Requires up to 3 miles per day walking at least twice a week. Office hours and schedule may vary. A company vehicle will be provided and a competitive compensation package as well. Must have a valid driver's license. Pre-employment and random drug testing required. Windows based general computer skills required.

Responsibilities Overview

  • Set goals for performance and deadlines in ways that comply with company’s plans and vision and communicate them to subordinates
  • Organize workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks
  • Assessing the work performance of subordinates and identifying areas that need improvement
  • Provide constructive feedback and coaching
  • Receive complaints and resolve problems
  • Pass on information from upper management to employees and vice versa
  • Prepare and submit performance reports
  • Assist in the continued education of subordinates
  • Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises
  • Enforce policies and procedures

Requirements and skills

  • Familiarity with company policies and guidelines of the field
  • Ability to learn a variety of job descriptions
  • High level of attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding organizational and leadership skills
  • Good knowledge of MS Office

Types of machines, tools, special equipment:
Each locate technician will be provided a company vehicle, laptop computer, digital camera, cell phone, broadband internet device, and utility locating equipment. The locating equipment as a whole weighs approximately 15 pounds.

Subject to pre-employment background check and drug screen as well as random drug screens.

SALARY DEPENDS ON EVALUATION

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
