Finance Generalists are hybrid positions, responsible for a variety of professional level work across various financial disciplines. They possess a solid financial background, either gained through work experience or education, which allows them to assume a wide range of duties across multiple areas, including accounting, budget, payroll, financial aid, financial analysis, purchasing, or treasury. Finance Generalists work on behalf of a program, function, or department, independently executing a range of financial responsibilities, based on the organization's needs.
The Finance Generalist in the Office of Research Core Administration (ORCA) will provide support to the Assistant Director and Director of Research Infrastructure. ORCA supports operations of 18 Research Cores in the School of Medicine by reporting monthly income statements, billing and fund recovery, facilitating new hires, performing variance analysis for the Dean’s Office, coordinating the annual RAC report and strategizing core operations with the Director of Infrastructure. The candidate will report directly to and will work closely with Assistant Director of Research Infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Performing accounting adjustments and journal entries
- Reconciliation of invoices for services provided by the Cores
- Processing checks and reviewing ad hoc bank transactions
- Helping with customer support to iLab users
- Solving issues related to purchase orders
- Assisting with purchasing instrumentation
- Helping with account reconciliation
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree.
Experience: At least two years of experience. Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
