Reports To: Director of Environmental Services

Status: 40 hours per two week pay period

Shift: Flexible 4 hour shifts

Job Schedule: Part time

Weekly Hours: 20

Statement of Purpose
:

Performs a variety of duties and functions to maintain floors and carpets at Huron Regional Medical Center, Huron Towers or any other hospital owned or leased property in clean, sanitary and pleasant conditions at all times.

Requirements:

A. An 8th grade education or its equivalent in comprehension through other training and experience is required.

B. Previous experience in commercial or industrial environmental services is preferred.

C. Ability to hear alarms and instructions over moderate noise. Ability to identify and distinguish objects by close, distant, color, and peripheral vision. Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions. Must be able to communicate with co-workers and other hospital staff.

Working Conditions:

A. Work involves one-to one contact with patients and visitors and may involve exposure to infectious materials and diseases. Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals requiring use of personal protective equipment, used in cleaning and disinfecting solutions.

B. Work is usually preformed in a well lit heated and air conditioned building. Noise levels are moderate to loud.

C. Work requires constant standing, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and stretching.

D. Work is intermittently light to moderately heavy (exerting/lifting up to 50 # occasionally, up to 25 # frequently and 10-20 # constantly) in using various types of equipment and moving furniture.

E. Work requires repetitive motion of hands by consistent grasping of objects.

F. Job hazards are minimal if defined procedures for personal safety are followed.
