The Food Services Professional primarily provides food production. This team player ensures cost-effectiveness and compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements regarding nutrition, menu planning, food production, sanitation, safety, financials, procurement and record-keeping. The Food Service Professional treats clients with care, dignity and respect and promotes a culture of inclusion and participation.
Required Education and Experience
- High School degree or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license, reliable operation transportation and proof of current auto insurance
Preferred Education and Experience
- Certified in CPR, AED and First Aid
- Food Manager’s certificate
Essential Functions

- Assist with food service program; assure compliance with all regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, safety and sanitation procedures
- Communicate program information to encourage and secure support for the food and nutrition program
- Adhere to established procedures to ensure that food is prepared and served in a sanitary and safe environment
- Integrate employee safety regulations into all phases of food service
- Ensure all records and supporting documentation are maintained in accordance with all company policies, regulatory organizations and accreditation standards
- Prepare a variety of food service records and reports, inventory and cost control records
- Prepare cost-effective menus that maintain nutrition integrity and meet all local, state and federal guidelines and regulations
- Communicate and Collaborate with Full-time Food Service coordinator
- Supervise and participate in food preparation and distribution to clients and plan and coordinate food service operations with program activities
- Work with the nurse and nutritionists to plan menus for clients with special dietary needs
- Implement a plan for providing food service for special functions such as holidays
- Implement quality standards for the presentation and service of food
- Develop and integrate employee safety regulations into all phases of food service
- Prepare specifications and collaborate with Food Service Coordinator for the purchase of food supplies and equipment according to agency purchasing policy and procedures
- Determine equipment needs and specifications consistent with program needs and budget and report to Program Supervisor
