The M.Ed. in Higher Education in Student Affairs Administration (HESSA) program at Rosemont College provides students with the unique opportunity to serve as half-time staff members in Student Affairs working 15-20 hours per week on a wide range of projects that complement the program’s course work.
Graduate Assistants in the Office of Career Services gain hands-on experience in student advising and programming in career development, self-assessment, career event planning and implementation, special projects, and student outreach to include presentations and representation of the Career Center at campus events. These 10-month positions are only available to students enrolled in the College’s M.Ed. in Higher Education in Student Affairs Administration (HESAA) program.
Responsibilities:
- Research career topics including the Career Readiness Competencies outlined by the National Association of College’s and Employers; craft career content and deliver customized in-person or electronic presentations to diverse student audiences
- Advise students on professional development topics including but not limited to resume writing, interview, internship/job search preparation
- Assist Career Services staff in coordination and execution of special events and programs such as career fairs, employer information sessions, on campus interviews, and mock interviews
- Represent Career Services at university sponsored and campus-wide events
- Collaborate with marketing and Alumni Affairs to create and deliver promotional materials including student, alumni, and employer success stories via a variety of platforms
- Assist with first destination data collection for graduates
- Develop and facilitate signature special project with guidance from Career Services staff

- Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations

- Attention to detail and an ability to think creatively and efficiently while maintaining organization
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Solid technology and social media skills; willingness to learn and adapt to new software/technology
- Ability to multitask and work gracefully under pressure

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Acceptance to a graduate program at Rosemont College full-time (Applicants for this position can apply for free)

- Experience working in education, counseling services, admissions, or business is preferred (but not required)
