Position Responsibilities
-
Has and develops specialized knowledge about SOM’s Structural Engineering portfolio and the specific market.

Collaborates with Structural Leadership, Marketing & Business Development team, Communications team to develop and implement a marketing strategy and to contribute to the communications goals for SOM’s structural engineering practice.

Business Development
-
Supports business plan creation, by coordinating the creation process, providing research, and referencing Salesforce.

In collaboration with Structural Leadership, ensures that Salesforce pursuit data is accurate.

Works with Practice Leadership to maintain and update pipeline.

Identifies key industry conferences & coordinates attendance, if needed.

Marketing
-
Works with Practice Leader to develop a strong internal pursuit/proposal process.

Crafts marketing collateral for Structural pursuits.
-
Participates in interview preparation and assists in defining a general strategy/approach.

Collaborates with Global Marketing Manager to build & maintain global, structural-specific marketing collateral, including training of Marketing team colleagues on its use.

Contributes to keeping OpenAsset up-to-date with Structural materials.

Communications

Serves as a bridge between the Structural group and the Communications Team by:

Identifying strongest content for Communications Team to further promote.

Developing awards strategy, including identification of key awards programs.

Leads high profile award submittals.

Advises on other award submittals.

Contributes to website content development.

Develops and promotes content related to any structural-led exhibition.

Performs other tasks and responsibilities as may be required.
Leadership Responsibilities

Inspires and leads others by example, participates in staff mentoring and training, clearly defines team member expectations and responsibilities, empowers others, and delegates where appropriate based on team members’ recognized abilities and potential.

In collaboration with team members, contributes to a clear and consistent work plan to achieve the project budget, deliverables, and schedule.

Contributes to the implementation of sustainable strategies in all project assignments and the associated development of staff knowledge.

Contributes to the development of standards, policies, and procedures.

Protects SOM from financial and legal risk.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Minimum 5-8 years marketing and/or business development experience, within the A/E/C industry (engineering firms preferred).

Knowledge of and interest in the structural engineering field
-
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities is a must.

Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills and the ability to effectively work within a matrix organization

Strong graphic sensibility

Compensation for this role is based upon experience, qualifications, location, and education and typically ranges from $77,000 - $95,000.
