The Field Mechanic provides repairs and preventative maintenance to Green Bean harvesters and Dumpcarts during the summer harvest season, June-October. The Field Mechanic is also responsible for Supervising a crew of 8 Seasonal operators who operate the harvesting Equipment. The Field Mechanic must be able to train the Seasonal employees on all aspects of the harvest, operating the equipment efficiently and Safely. The HOB must also be able to operate the equipment at times if needed. During the harvest season, 6-7 days per week are worked with 1 day off every 7 or 8 days. Some travel away from home and out of state may be necessary.

During the non-harvest season, October-May, the Field Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and refurbishing the harvesting equipment in the Markesan field shop. The equipment is refurbished to like new standards for the upcoming harvest season. Torch/Plasma cutting, welding, Hydraulic and Electrical schematic skills are needed. 4-10-hour days are worked in the offseason.

The Rate of Pay for this role is $25.85 - $28.85 per hour. This role is also eligible for a $1,500 Sign-On Bonus.

Responsibilities and Duties

· Train Seasonal employees on all aspects of the harvest, operating the equipment efficiently and safely.

· Operate the equipment at times if needed.

· Responsible for maintaining and refurbishing the harvesting equipment in the Markesan field shop.

· Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools.

· Install and repair agricultural irrigation, plumbing, and sprinkler systems.

· Refurbish equipment for the upcoming harvest season.

· Torch/Plasma cutting, welding, Hydraulic and Electrical schematic skills are needed.

Qualifications and Skills

· 2+ years of hydraulic systems repair experience

· 2+ years of diesel engine repair experience

· 2+ years of parts replacement

· 2+ years electrical repair experience

· 2+ years of farm equipment repair experience

· 2+ years of supervisory or management experience

· Commercial driver’s license highly preferred
