Help our baby nap as long as our cat. | Carrboro | Near O2 Fitness | Full(ish) Time | January Start | $23-$25/hr
- Are you a baby-sleep whisperer? If so, can you book it to Carrboro ASAP? We’re a family of 3 humans + a floofy cat who welcomed our newest addition into the world 3 wonderful months ago. He’s the squishiest, snuggliest, sweetest baby ever and we just can’t WAIT to tell you about him! With Dad working as a college professor and Mom as a data scientist, we have flexible schedules but we do work from home (dramatic *dun, dun, DUNNN* sound effect). Don’t stop reading! We promise we’re pretty chill as far as first-time parents go and are totally game for giving you space and freedom. We’re looking for a nanny to support us through this journey into parenthood and to love on our little one as much as we do. If you vibe with Carrboro, babies, and regulated sleep schedules, LET’S CHAT YESTERDAY!
- We can guarantee 30 hours a week and are looking for primarily afternoon hours! Mom works from home on West Coast time so her mornings are flexible. We’re thinking 11a-5p Monday through Friday. Yay for sleeping in, and yay for getting off work by 5p! No travel is required for this position, well, unless you count the miles you’ll put on your sneakers cruising with our kiddo!
- A decade ago, we met in graduate school in the great state of Hawaii. We were each excited about getting an education in one of the most beautiful places in the US. Finding each other while exploring this amazing state was the ultimate cherry on top! We’ve moved to Texas, where our first baby joined us (more on our furbaby later!), and then spent time in New York before landing in North Carolina. For years, our lives were filled with travel, going out to restaurants, and finding cool places to hike. In fact, much of our travel together has revolved around exploring national parks. In the last few years, restaurant dining has been mostly replaced with cooking (Mom is an amazing chef!), hikes in the Smokies (or locally), and snuggling in for a movie together. While we love all types of food, we eat tons of seafood, and Taiwanese and Chinese foods are Mom’s specialty. We don’t have family nearby but once our little guy has a few more vaccines under his belt, we are planning a trip to Taiwan to see Mom’s family. We live in a walkable neighborhood right across from the Farmer’s Market. We love toodling around our sweet town.
- Three months old and already a motion junkie, our little cutie loves to move. He’s down for being your sidecar partner while in his stroller and he’s always up for a little rocking and rolling in his swing. He’s ready to buckle up and go for a bounce with one of his humans on the yoga ball *whenever* you’d like. If he is in motion, he is happy! We are Lovevery supporters from the subscription box right down to the play gym. From tummy time to observing those little black and white cards, he’s always soaking up what’s around him. He’s better than your average bear when it comes to nighttime sleep– in fact our pediatrician recommended that we not share his nighttime sleep habits with our friends if we didn’t want to feel their jealous vibes. Daytime naps are short, but we know longer stretches are just one good developmental leap away. Our little champ loves to eat and is growing so fast. That said, he does have a few things he’s particular about. It took us a few tries to find the right bottle and he prefers his nursery play area to the downstairs hang out area. We know babies this age change quickly so who knows what his favorite things will be when you join us?
- With our little one, we’re more on the risk-averse end of the COVID spectrum. Both Mom and Dad are vaccinated and boosted for COVID and we need you to be as well. We also need you to be up-to-date on your TDAP and flu shot given the mini immune system you’ll be spending a lot of time around. Mom and Dad are still masking in public spaces like grocery stores and will likely ease up once the baby can be vaccinated. We realize we can’t control your life outside of work but would ideally love you to at least be willing to be a little more careful until our kiddo gets past his 6-month vaccines. At minimum, we need you vaccinated, letting us know if you feel sick, and staying away from any known exposures!
- We have household responsibilities broken down into things we need and a ‘nice-to-have’ list. We DEFINITELY need help with washing bottles, food prep, light housekeeping related to the baby (ie. swiffering the floor where he’s scooting around, organizing toys, wiping the high chair after meals), and we’d love for you to help keep stock of things we’re running low on. A nice-to-have would be family laundry. Right now, all of our laundry is thrown in the same hamper (and 75% is baby laundry, ha!). If you’re cool with throwing our laundry in along with his laundry, we would be so grateful BUT this is NOT required. We’re more than happy to separate laundry if you want to keep household tasks strictly baby related. Easy peasy!
- Funny story, the character of Garfield was actually based on our cat. JK, but they give off impeccably similar vibes. Not only is he a big, fluffy, orange boy, but he hates dogs, wants little to nothing to do with *most* people, and sleeps around 20 hours a day. In fact, 11a-5p is one of his nap times so it’s likely the 2 of you won’t cross paths for a while. Our firstborn son has been with us for 8 years and has moved from Austin, to New York, to NC with us and though he’s part of the family, no pet care is required. He is friendly but we’ll warn you, his hair is ALL over the place so nannies with pet allergies will not thrive here. We avoid letting him be in the nursery unsupervised but if he sneaks by you, not a huge deal. You can call one of us to scoop him up if your chasing-cats-out-of-rooms skills are rusty.
- Being from big cities, we’re a one-car family BUT we’re happy to let you use it. As of now, no transport will be required of you. However, we understand that as baby grows up you’ll want to be more out in the world with him (and there are great parks nearby!). With enough planning and coordination, we’re happy to let you use our vehicle. She may be a little old (the vehicle), but she’s safe!
- We’re offering $22-$25/hr, PTO, a chill pair of first-time parents, a squishy, ADORABLE sidekick, and an opportunity to meet Garfield in the flesh.
