General Purpose:

Assists in the execution of Coesia Digital aspects of order to achieve functionality, quality, cost, and schedule.

Coesia Digital is a suite of software components designed to complement the usability and performance of the R.A Jones line of packaging machinery. These components include HMI (Human Machine Interface), IIoT remote machine monitoring, and machine learning technologies.

General Characteristics:

Applies knowledge of engineering principles and practices; performs assignments designed to develop knowledge of and skills within machine product lines.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Collaborates with interdepartmental and cross-site team members as required to apply Coesia Digital functionality based on project specifications.
• Receives instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions. Accountable for achieving all assigned engineering tasks and objectives within the established strategy; ensures functionality while meeting specifications.
• Keeps leaders informed on status of assigned projects and notifies them when desired outcomes cannot be met. Works with immediate supervision reporting to manager.
• Responsible for developing Coesia Digital concepts in accordance with Coesia and R.A Jones standards. Maintains them throughout the entire project.
• Applies Coesia Digital software, configuration files, and templates for various control platforms in the creation of HMI and IoT applications.
• Satisfies identification and mapping of machine-specific data such as fixed and multiplexed variables, events and troubleshooting, and loss tree.
• Creates HMI applications using COPA-DATA Zenon software.
• Works with Ux designers in the creation of new HMI objects for specific machine functions.
• Configures PC hardware and software as required for local machine networks and IoT connections to the cloud.
• Assists in testing and start-up of Coesia Digital functions on new equipment.

Position Specifications/Requirements:

• Requires a BS degree in computer or electrical engineering or a BS degree in relevant technical discipline with equivalent experience.
• Experience with programming various HMI and PLC controls.
• Understands Windows Operating System and is skilled at configuring PC hardware and software for connection between local networks and the internet.
• Knowledge of industrial networks such as Ethernet IP, EtherCAT, PowerLink, and Profinet.
• Experience with setting up managed Ethernet switches in accordance with network specifications.
• Experience programming in VBA, C#, C++, javascript, HTML5, structured text, and similar languages is a plus.
• Has strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must possess good interpersonal skills to promote the team concept required for quality order execution.
• Willingness to travel on a low to moderate basis.

Working conditions

• Safety glasses with side shields and steel toe safety shoes are required while in shop.
• Some exposure to dust, dirt, and noise.

Physical requirements

• Must be willing to travel to customer and vendor sites on an occasional basis.
