$22-24/hour depends on experience

Mission

IRCCW mission is to promote community empowerment, leadership development, self- reliance, and health promotion for newcomers to achieve self-sufficiency and economic independence through direct assistance and capacity-building.

Background

IRCCWprovides culturally and linguistically competent social services to Iraqi refugees in Washington State. We work with refugees, from all walks of life, so that they can obtain self-sufficiency and make a successful transition to life in America. We use a specific approach surrounding the entire family with needed support, as our programs are specifically designed to work with the family from the root and up.

Primary Job Responsibilities

· Recruit, train, and equip Family Child Care Providers

· Have minimum of 2 visits per week: total 48 visits within 30 weeks

· Provide referrals to ongoing training, technical assistance, and coaching to improve FCC Provider’ early childhood education skills

· Provide educational books, toys, and learning resources for their child care facilities

· Provide access to case management, basic needs, and social supports for the families they serve

· Provide support in standardized developmental screenings and referrals to intervention as needed for children in FCC Provider’s care

· Convene socialization nights and put together activities and opportunities for peer learning for FCC providers

· Input data using Apricot system- provide weekly provider contacts and visits, and update provider level data

· Model reading and play for parents to help build relationships between providers and families

· Document development and progress of providers teacher-child interaction

· Show a commitment to professional development and engage in ongoing learning with meaningful activities leading to growth.

· Provide strong language models and many opportunities for children to develop language.

· Create and translate materials in the home language of the providers and the families they serve

· Attend trainings and meetings, and participate in any other duties assigned

· Additional home visits

Minimum Qualifications

· AA in ECE, human services or a similar field.

· A BA degree or equivalent in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Family Services or in a field related to early childhood education or human services is preferred.

· Relevant experience may be substituted for required education such as 1-3 years work experience in a comprehensive preschool program serving low-income families or prior home visiting experience or prior teaching experience. Or, a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills and abilities required.

· Bilingual in English and Arabic is highly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

· Demonstrated skills in organizing and implementing goal-directed family visits and documenting family responses and progress.

· Competence in planning, organizing, scheduling, record keeping and oral and written
Knowledge and experience working with relocated refugee families who have experienced trauma and conflict

· Experience in interacting with children in home settings and/or in classrooms or learning groups

· Demonstrated knowledge of local community resources, programs, activities, and services that are available and accessible for low-income families with limited English proficiency

Requirements for Working with Families in the Program

· Completion of a Criminal History Background Check

· Proof of physical exam including a Mantoux TB skin test prior to start of employment. If previous TB test was positive, documented proof of treatment from a doctor or a negative chest x-ray must be provided

· Proof of CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification is required or obtained within 60 days of hire and prior to contact with any children

· HIV/Aids and blood borne pathogen training is required within 60 days of hire and prior to any contact with children

· Obtain a Food Handler’s permit within 60 days of hire

Required for employment as a Early Learning Specialist

· Access to a private vehicle

· Vehicle Insurance

· Driver’s License- safe driving record

· Ability to lift to 40 pounds

· Basic skills or intermediate skills in MS Word or experience with entering information in forms
