The Healthy Start Home Visitor meets with expectant parents and families with young children in McLean County, providing strength-based, family-centered services, comprehensive assessment, and parent support groups and education. As a Home Visitor, you will develop safe and trusting relationships with expectant and new parents, helping them to expand their support networks and maximize access to needed services, and providing support and expertise as they successfully navigate the parenting journey.
What you’ll do as Early Start Home Visitor:
Provide home visits to expectant parents and families with young children.
Rely on trusting relationships, thoughtful observation, and reflective listening to inform the assessment and service planning processes.
Advocate for your clients’ access to community resources.
Work with a team of providers to ensure services are comprehensive and collaborative.
Provide strengths-based and family-centered parent education both individually and in group settings.
Assess for safety and develop safety plans and strategies in collaboration with the family.
Complete required program documentation within expected timeframes.
Who you are:
- Associate's Degree in a human services field required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- One year of experience working with families with children under the age of 5.
- You are an intuitive, nonjudgmental listener who easily builds relationships built on respect, trust and positive regard.
- You are a skilled communicator both verbally and in writing; the ability to communicate in both English and Spanish highly desirable.
- You are organized, attentive to detail, and have strong task prioritization and time management skills.
The details:
- Location: Hybrid (office-based/remote). This is not a fully remote position, but there are opportunities to work from home. Must be available to provide home- and community-based services, in-person, to program participants in McLean County of Central Illinois, and work from the home office in Bloomington, IL at least 3 times per week for in-person engagements with the team and supervisor. Case notes and other administrative tasks can be completed from home if desired.
- Schedule: Full-time, hourly. Monday - Friday, general business hours with some flexibility to provide evening availability as needed to accommodate client schedules.
- Staff are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to submit proof of their vaccination status before their start date unless they have an agency approved medical or religious exemption.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: Range starts at $19/hour. Offers are commensurate with experience and bilingual candidates may receive additional financial compensation.
- Noncash benefits: Medical/dental/vision insurance, paid time off plus 11 paid holidays, supplemental insurance options, 401(k) with match (more benefits details here).
- Winter Break: The agency is closed between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. This paid break allows staff to spend time with their families around the holidays without using their accrued time off balances.
- Student Loan Forgiveness: Children's Home & Aid is an approved agency for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
