Household Coordinator Job at St. Joseph Villa
SUMMARY OF JOB:
The Household Coordinator has the primary responsibility of enhancing the resident’s quality of life and working closely with the Nursing Coordinator to effectively manage the household by providing leadership and vision. The Household Coordinator has overall responsibility for the non-clinical functions of the household. The Household Coordinator works closely with the Nursing Coordinator to ensure regulatory compliance, nurture a resident-directed culture, strengthen the ability of the household to grow as a separate effective household and promote individual and team learning. The Household Coordinator works cooperatively with residents, coworkers, families, visitors and volunteers to create a positive and pleasant environment for each household.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Provide leadership by serving as a role model for the Portrait of a Villa Employee, maintaining professionalism, supporting a learning environment, collaborating with other Household Coordinators, and mentoring and guiding other household members.
-Mentor other Household Coordinators in his/her area of expertise, as needed.
-Create and maintain a sense of welcome and a sense of home by continually ensuring that all practices support a person-centered environment.
-Work in partnership with the Nursing Coordinator to develop and maintain a quality work team that will best support the needs of the residents by:
-Recruiting and selecting staff for the household
-Scheduling staff appropriately to ensure that the household has adequate coverage to provide the care and services that the residents require
-Promoting empowerment of team members
-Monitoring team member performance and providing feedback through coaching, counseling and timely performance evaluations
-Building support and rapport among team members
-Developing and participating in team problem solving methods
-Celebrating individual and team success
-Sourcing outside resources for the household as needed (e.g. maintenance)
-Enhance relationships in the household through shared activities of living; promote compassionate services among the team by offering emotional and psychological support to all, and evaluating the successes and needs of the household.
-Understand needs of an aging populations and stages of Dementia.
-Completion of cross training for life enrichment and dining services.
-Complete annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by the Code of Compliance in the performance of their duties.
-Adhere to the Organization’s Policies and Procedures regarding the Compliance Program of the organization and is timely in reporting any possible concerns.
-Follow all local, state and federal regulations as they pertain to their position.
- Adhere to the Organization’s Policies and Procedures covering Privacy and Security in the Compliance with HIPAA regulations.
-Attend monthly in-services as required.
-Perform other duties as related to the essential functions of the position and as assigned by the Administrator, as needed.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
-Bachelor Degree in a health care field that would support the Household Model preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Social Work Experience Preferred
-Knowledge of regulations and guidelines for long term care as appropriate
-Experience using computer systems such as Microsoft Office
-Knowledge of management practices and procedures
-Experience supervising staff preferred
-Ability to interact with staff on all levels
-Completion of cross training for life enrichment, housekeeping, and laundry as required
-Completion of cross training for household homemaking, including food service and food handling (ServeSafe or equivalent) desired
-Experience in working in the field of long term care with the aging population preferred.
-Understand needs of an aging population.
