Compensation: I: $4,287 - $5,214/month ($24.73 - $30.08/hour) and II: $5,095 - $6,194/month ($29.39 - $35.73/hour), commensurate with experience within this range; a $50-$90/month bilingual stipend may be included depending on fluency.

Under the general direction of the HCV Manager; the Housing Specialist performs a variety of duties requiring knowledge of the Section 8 program, applicable HUD rules and regulations, federal, state and local laws. This position is designed to provide support to assigned staff in the areas of day-to-day coordination and oversight of functions such as recalculating income, determining program eligibility, coordinating inspections, new leases, annual recertifications and terminations/evictions. Employees at level I are required to be knowledgeable in all assigned procedures and demonstrate proficiency; this class is distinguished from that of lower classes by the level of responsibility and the complexity of duties. Employees at level II are required to be fully knowledgeable in all assigned procedures and provide training to other housing classifications; this class is distinguished from that of lower classes by the level of responsibility, complexity of duties and a significantly increased case load. The compensation range listed above consists of 5 steps with a 5% increase between each step. Offers of employment are generally made at the first step in each range but a higher starting step may be considered based on the successful candidates’ qualifications. New hires are eligible for a pay increase upon completion of the 6-month introductory period and every year following, up to the top of the range. Compensation includes a generous benefits package; additional details are available on the Benefits & Paid Time Off summary in the application packet. HASLO operates on a 9/80 work schedule: Mon to Thu 7:30am to 5:00pm and every other Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm (office is closed alternate Fridays); however, some schedules may vary based on the needs of the assigned department.
