Job Summary
Coordinate and control the administration of benefits for employees to assure proper administration of the plan and be of assistance for employees regarding the plan. To assist co-workers as needed in various projects. To support, assist and respond to the needs of the entire workforce. Assist and administer all benefits, policies, and procedures, EEO compliance in interviewing and hiring procedures, new hire orientation and processing corrective action documentation; implement, support, and facilitate the safety process, training resources and working conditions, as well as changes to salaried payroll, maintain open communications with all employees and interaction with the local union executive committee to address issues and resolve them satisfactorily.
Essential Functions
  • Process all benefit changes in timely manner. Monitor and control appropriate medical premium deductions. Medical inquiries for employees – direct employee on contact carrier for various coverage and payment problems. Have deductions setup, changed, and stopped. Reconcile and pay monthly premium bills.
  • Maintain accurate and current HRMS database. Updates on employee’s status, new employees, terminations, department changes and monthly incidents.
  • Perform various office/clerical duties: safety glasses – order – keep control of distribution on Co. policy; Coordinate open enrollment process; Send LOA letters on benefit premiums; Process Layoff/Recall letters; Filing, photo copying, mailings, orientation folders – keep organized and supplied; track headcount, and report status; create forms, memo’s, letters – as needed; maintain accurate and wholesome filing on personnel files, projects, etc. post job vacancies and maintain bidders; post bulletin board announcements.
  • Be a backup for the 2nd HR associate; the Occupational Health Nurse and assist the Payroll Coordinator when needed.
  • Keep all documentation and information strictly confidential.
  • Track and record accurate time and attendance data for the hourly employees.
  • Assist with Company outings, retirement parties, golf outings, employee meetings (Anti-harassment, United Way, employee survey and feedback meetings).
Job Qualifications
Required
  • Strong PC experience/knowledge in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Spreadsheets.
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Have a high degree of accuracy in workload.
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload while multi-tasking routinely during the shift.
Preferred
  • High School Diploma.
  • College Degree (2 or 4 years).
  • Have 3-5 years’ experience as an HR Generalist and/or Benefit Administration.
Environment
  • Work in an office setting.
  • Able to enter the production areas as needed.
  • Able to stand, sit, walk for long periods of time as needed.
  • Have solid telephone skills and able to maintain control if dealing with disgruntle employee or the public.
