The IBC Tote Machinist/Material Handler is responsible for performing preventative maintenance on all IBC stainless steel totes, inspecting and evaluating containers for possible maintenance; cleaning, repairing, and refurbish containers; performing mechanic skills including, but not limited to welding, replacing damaged structures (bolts, clamps, tack-welds, or otherwise fastens parts); performing caustic and detergent wash as necessary; maintaining documentation of inspections and repairs performed; performing material handling Logistics duties as assigned, as well as other general maintenances duties at our Taft manufacturing site, located near New Orleans, Louisiana.
Job Scope

Machinist/Repair 40%

• Responsible for preventative maintenance on IBC container to maintain compliance
• Inspect and evaluate containers for leaks or damageto assess need for repairs and/or parts replacement
• Change out common IBC parts with approved replacement parts as necessary
• Perform any required passivation due to free iron presence resulting from welds
• Perform DOT testing and any internal and external cleaning to restore and recertify containers
• Perform any required valve assembly replacement
• Removal of old labels as necessary
• Safely operates a forklift
• Always maintain a clean and safe work environment by cleaning, organizing, removing safety hazards, spare parts, etc. from ship floor

Material Handlin g 40%

• In the absence of repairing totes, and as a back up for Logistics department, assist Logistics personnel with loading and unloading trucks; staging, moving, and storing inventory
• Safely operates a forklift
• Additional duties as assigned by Logistics management

General Maintenance 20%

• Operate forklift, man lift, and assorted hand tools and power tools, including Stick and MIG welding, and torches to fabricate or repair equipment
• Perform basic machine troubleshooting and repairs.
• Clean, lubricate, and replace shafts, bearings, gears, mechanical seals, and other parts of machinery.
• Other duties as required by Maintenance Manager.

Candidate Profile

Must have high school diploma or equivalent plus relevant industrial experience, AS degree in mechanical field preferred. Completion of a formal machinist program preferred, with minimum of 2 years previous hands on experience working in machine/fabrication shop, manufacturing or industrial setting preferred. Experience in nonferrous metal working operations, including welding, resurfacing material, and general fabrication. Forklift operation experience and other moving equipment. Knowledge of basic mechanical principles and maintenance management systems, and mechanical aptitude, including knowledge and use of hand tools.
