Position Summary:

The successful candidate will join the refugee youth team to implement the 412 Futures career discovery programming as well as our Learn and Earn Summer Program programs for refugee and immigrant students to help them navigate career and post-secondary school educational opportunities.

This individual will work to enhance partner collaborations, help to ensure compliance with grant requirements, and assist with site supervision and task management for interns and AmeriCorps members. In addition, this individual will help develop career pathways and long-term career goals for each youth client. The individual in this position will ensure that both youth and some adult clients have all the tools necessary to achieve their goals, whether it be employment or advancement, matriculation, or post-secondary education.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years experience working with immigrant and/or refugee populations and a general understanding of workforce.
  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to oversee multiple projects at one time.
  • Experience in providing direct career and employment counseling, or experience working with youth populations.
  • Detail oriented with excellent communication and writing skills.
  • A bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.
  • Fluency or proficiency in another language is a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop individualized career pathway plans with youth and adult clients.
  • Conduct ongoing counseling sessions with students, both virtually and in person.
  • Work as part of the youth team to create and deliver year-long career development curriculum for 9th-12th grade students to help them plan for their futures after high school.
  • Conduct outreach to guest speakers and workshop facilitators.
  • Identify, plan, and staff field trips for high school students, including arranging transportation and other necessary logistics.
  • Work with community-based program partners to develop annual calendar of youth-focused events and activities.
  • Along with the Youth Services supervisor, oversee youth partnership collaborations, including client referral outreach and tracking, monthly attendance reporting, and ongoing case consultations with partner staff.
  • Assist with program data entry, tracking, and outcome reporting to ensure compliance with all program funding requirements.
  • Work with youth team to create monthly email and video newsletters to communicate program updates and events to community partners, prospective clients, and the general public.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional conferences, representing the Refugee and Immigrant Services department as required.
  • Respond appropriately to the cultural characteristics of the client population; support related departments as required.
  • Represent the Refugee and Immigrant Services department and specific programs to the community through community outreach, public speaking, and response to community concerns about the programs and clients.
  • Assume other related duties as assigned.
