Description
Duties:
- RECEIVE WORK ORDER AND PRINTS FOR THE JOB. MAKE SKETCHES SHOWING CONSTRUCTION DETAILS FOR THE JOB
- ESTIMATE MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS AND TOOLS OR EQUIPMENT NEEDED TO PERFORM JOB
- SET UP AND OPERATE WOOD WORKING TOOLS TO CUT, FORM, FINISH MATERIAL FOR THE JOB
- ERECT OR DISMANTLE STRUCTURES, REPAIR OR REFINISH WALLS OR STRUCTURES
- INSTALL WOOD OR METAL PARTS
- INSTALL GLASS OR REPLACE BROKEN GLASS AS REQUIRED
- ERECT OR DISMANTLE ROOFING OR SIDING
- LUBRICATE AND MAINTAIN CARPENTER SHOP EQUIPMENT
- CRATE MACHINERY FOR SHIPMENT
- MAY WORK AS PART OF A MECHANICS TEAM IN SEMI-ANNUAL OVERHAUL PROGRAM WHEN REQUIRED
- MAY DO TOUCH UP OR INCIDENTAL PAINTING AFTER STRUCTURE REPAIRS
- MAY REPAIR PALLETS AND SKIDS AS TIME IS AVAILABLE
- MAY BUILD FORMS FOR VARIOUS CONCRETE JOBS
Qualifications
Skills/Qualifications:
Technical:
- Understand and carry out oral instructions
- Read and carry out simple written instructions
- Read and carry out complicated written instructions
- Work at varying heights
- Read and interpret detail prints and documents
- Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals and metrics to calculate surfaces, volumes, weights and measures
- Operate complex equipment and power tools
- Operate small equipment and power tools
Physical:
- Work in extreme weather conditions hot, humidity & cold
- Work in wet, muddy and slippery conditions
- Work in cramped quarters/confined space
- Work where noise level is above 89 decibels
