Summary
The purpose of this position is to ensure in-process and completed work on railcars or items meets or exceeds all GRS, Customer and applicable statutory / regulatory requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily:
  • Perform in process inspections and notify production of any additional required repairs.
  • Sign off work orders during in process / completed job inspection.
  • Notify QA Manager when work is completed.
  • Perform inspections in accordance with all applicable Greenbrier, customer, regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Following all EHS rules.
  • Provide or assist in quality related training and guidance of work force crew.
  • Must be able to accommodate on-call responsibilities and work overtime when needed.
  • Liaison with customers including technical issues or other customer requests.
  • Fill in for QA Manager in his / her absence.
  • Occasional after-hours and weekend work required.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned including special processes.

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions including basic blue prints and schematics.
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as a micrometer, caliper, and tape measure.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and listening skills.
  • Excellent judgment and decision making skills.
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong knowledge of standard Desktop Microsoft applications including: MS Windows, Office, Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to complete additional training or education as needed for this position.

Education and Experience
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and experience:
  • High School Diploma preferred, but not required.
  • Up to two years of previous experience in similar work environment.

Working Conditions
With the exception of clerical, administrative, and some management positions, which require indoor work, the physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, dry/arid and dusty conditions. Employees are required to use personal protective equipment as environmental conditions dictate.
