Terrific Interim Assistant Vice President of Human Resources (AVP) position with a highly regarded university in New York City. Primarily a remote role, the AVP will be responsible for the implementation of a multi-year strategic human resources plan. The AVP will manage, mentor, and train a team of approximately 25 HR professionals, with oversight of various functions including HR operations, HR systems, payroll, and compensation. This role will also oversee the expansion of a new shared services function at the university and collaborate with leadership to establish operational plans to support HR strategy. Qualified candidates should have approximately 7+ years of progressive HR leadership and strategic experience. Bachelor's degree is required. Strong candidates will have the desire to build strong relationships across campus and ensure that employees are cared for in a professional and personable manner. This position is primarily remote and the salary range is $170,000 to $190,000 per year. Potential flexibility in salary for candidates not required to participate in benefits.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and management of a multi-year strategic plan in collaboration with leadership
  • Organizational development, including workforce and succession planning
  • Oversight of critical functions that include HR operations, payroll, compensation, and HR systems
  • Expand a new shared services function across the university
  • Develop a compensation philosophy that maintains equity and supports university values and culture
  • Focus on incorporation of DEI initiatives and values
  • Ensure policies, programs, and practices comply with federal and state laws
  • Responsible for HR operations vendor management
Qualifications:
  • Approximately 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Demonstrated commitment to support diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Strong HRIS and talent acquisition experience
  • Ability to travel to NYC, as needed
  • Some higher education experience preferred
