IP Docket Specialist
Cozen O’Connor seeks an IP Docket Specialist to support our busy Intellectual Property practice group. The role is preferred to be close to either the New York, Seattle, Philadelphia or DC offices but is a fully remote role. The IP Docket Specialist will process mail and email and enter necessary dates and deadlines to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the IP docketing system. This position involves working with other talented individuals in a collaborative team environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Review and process incoming and outgoing domestic and international correspondence to and from internal attorneys, foreign counsel, as well as the various IP Offices around the world and docket same for the IP Department
- Accurately maintain dates in the docket
- Compile and circulate the daily and weekly and other dockets in a timely manner, prepare statistical, audit and other reports and monitor team deadlines
- Collaborate with team members to review processes and procedures, and to suggest and implement improvements
- Assist with the intake of new clients, their files and data
Qualifications and Requirements
- At least 2 years of docketing experience is preferred.
- An understanding of US and international patent and trademark procedures is preferred, as well as PTAB, TTAB, UDRP, copyright, opposition, cancellation, customs and domain name rules and procedures.
- Familiarity with the inner workings of the USPTO, WIPO, CIPO, UKIPO and EUIPO
- Knowledge of the Clarivate Foundation IP docketing systems is preferred.
- Ability to work calmly and effectively in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.
- Outstanding written and verbal communications and able to professionally interact with clients, attorneys, and staff is required.
- Experience in working collaboratively and applying individual commitment to a group or team environment in the spirit of cooperation to successfully complete tasks efficiently and quickly.
- Ability to problem solve and use sound judgment.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
