Position summary:
The responsibility of the Lab Technician is to assist Quality Assurance activities in West Point including data collection, auditing, laboratory testing,, data analysis, filing, visual inspection, and data entry.
Educational requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
Skills and experience:
Basic mathematical concepts including fractions, decimals, and percentages preferred.
2-3 years plant of plant experience or previous Quality Control experience preferred.
Good communication skills, written and verbal
Ability to work with minimal supervison
Ability to complete visual inspections
Proficiency in Tape measure usage
Must have normal color vision and average or above averade shade discernment
Essential duties:
Comply with safety rules
Comply with environmental regulations.
Perform process audits
Perform laboratory testing in the Quality Control Lab.
Work up incoming yarn for color testing and approval to masters.
Maintain records on yarn color approval.
Perform quality checks on incoming material as needed.
Maintain testing records and enter data into appropriate data base.
Work with P.C. for data collection and to establish quality programs
Monitor problem orders and remakes through West Point Plant
Check and calibrate scales and other test equipment in the plant.
Communciate Quality concerns to appropriate manufacturing personnel.
Assist in maintaining Master Carpet Library
Set up data collection files in PC on quality matters and be familiar with the mainframe.
Must have working knowledge of all Quality Control procedures and testing equipment.
Deposit all carpet scraps into specific containers to be recycled.
Maintain a daily log of production
Maintain housekeeping
Comply with safety rules
Comply with environmental regulations.
Be aware of departmental Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Ensure ISO procedures are followed.
Maintain good understanding of all production processes within the individual area of QC
responsibility.
Understand and support Interface commitment to sustainability.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical demands:
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
Standing and walking up ot 8 hours.
Climbing stairs multiple times daily.
Work environment:
25% office environment
75% non-climate controlled manufacturing environment
