Position and Location:

We are currently looking to hire general laborers in the Carlsbad, NM area to fill positions in the fast-paced and growing telecom and oilfield market.

This is a full-time position.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• As a laborer, daily work will involve placement of fiber optic and copper or power cables, conduits, enclosures, vaults, cabinets, poles, and related equipment.
• Perform a variety of duties involving tool use, lifting, carrying, and managing equipment and machinery to provide support to the on-site field team.
• Most of the work is underground/excavation projects which includes frequent shovel work.
• Assists crew leader in construction, reconstruction, and maintenance work.
• Assists equipment operators by spotting/swamping, hand digging and locating underground obstructions.
• Drives commercial vehicles equipped to transport a variety of materials and equipment.
• Complete daily paperwork in an accurate manner.
• Work safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers, and dump trucks.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to work successfully both individually and within a team.
• Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing.
• Ability to travel and/or work away from home.
• Positive attitude.
• Able to work in various climatic conditions and work effectively.

Education and Experience:

• 3 years of experience in a labor-intensive environment.
• 3-5 years of experience in the construction, underground or telecom industry.

Physical Requirements:

• Kneeling, bending, climbing stairs and ladders.
• Must be able to lift as much as 50 pounds at a time.
• Work in all weather conditions.
• Work a minimum of 8 hours a day.
• Drive for extended periods of time throughout the day.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening.
• Must possess a valid Driver's license and clean abstract.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Compensation:

Negotiable depending on experience.
