POSITION SUMMARY

The Laundry Attendant is responsible for processing hotel laundry. This includes maintaining an adequate number of turns of linens to meet the hotel’s needs; operate washing/drying machines according to proper procedures; fold, stack, and store linen in compliance with hotel standards; process damaged linen for discard according to hotel standards. This is a fast paced position working in high heat at times.

Promptly reports emergencies, accidents, injuries, missing articles, damage, engineering items and safety hazards to management. Reports any deviations from policies, procedures, brand standards and regulations to management.

Complies with all guest service basics such as uniforms, name tags and proper guest greeting. Knowledgeable on hotel facilities and services to assist guests as appropriate. Ensures all communication containing Company, hotel, brand and guest information is consistent with privacy policies, practices and regulations. Impresses guests with quality and timely service in a pleasant and friendly manner.

 Prior to washing, ready linen by removing foreign objects.

 Operate washing and drying equipment, load and unload laundry from machines. Measure and administer cleaning agents to laundry according to product specifications.

 Monitor feeder information on washers, make sure all drums are full, and report any irregularities to immediate supervisor.

 Fold items using technique as outlined in brand standards or by management.

 Ensure that finished laundry has no wrinkles, tears or stains - remove unacceptable product to a specified location to ensure only quality product is used in guest rooms.

 Set the proper drying and cooling times for different types of linen.

 Maintain laundry area in a clean and orderly manner; check and clean lint traps daily on all equipment. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

 Maintain housekeeping and customer service standards by ensuring that towels, sheets and linens are cleaned, ironed (if necessary); and stored properly.

 Maintains an acceptable pace of work to ensure efficiency and that inventory is maintained for guest needs.

 Perform all duties in accordance with brand standards and with emphasis on meeting or exceeding guest expectations.

 Attend department meetings

 Perform any other tasks as assigned by Management.

 Consistent professional and positive attitude and actions when communicating with guests and associates.

 Report any incidents of guest dissatisfaction or unusual matters of significance to manager / supervisor so that corrective action may be taken.

 Comply with policies and procedures. Practice safe work habits and comply with sanitary, safety, security and emergency procedures.

 Check with manager / supervisor before leaving work area for any reason

The Company operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days,

starting and ending times, and hours worked in a week.

QUALIFICATIONS The Company may consider equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience

providing the knowledge, skills and abilities cited below.

Working knowledge of the use of laundry chemicals and different formulas, as well as effects on various types of linen.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school education or related experience. Familiarity with hospitality industry practices preferred.

SKLILLS & ABILITIES:

To be successful in this role, you need basic English communication skills, the ability to speak, listen, write and identify distress signs. Ability to meet standards of appearance. Ability to display a positive attitude and provide friendly guest service. Ability to complete assigned areas and/or rooms timely during a work day. Ability to work in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible and efficient. Ability to operate a vacuum cleaner, ironing machinery, washing and drying machinery. Ability to satisfy the legal requirements for employment within the jurisdiction. WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Work is normally performed in an interior hotel environment. The work involves exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The exposure to hazards or physical risks requires following basic safety precautions and use of applicable protective equipment. While performing job duties, the associate speaks, listens, completes documents and processes requests. The associate operates office equipment such as a telephone and cleaning equipment such as a vacuum cleaner. Physical requirements include ability to frequently move around the hotel property; remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time; bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, up to 125 lbs, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The job requires close vision with or without corrective lenses.
