900 hours: $856 monthly ($3,247.50 education award)
1,200 hours: $1,354 monthly ($4,546.50 education award)

10-11 month service term that ends May 31, 2024

The Gem State Public Health AmeriCorps program partners community members with non profits across the state in PAID volunteer positions called AmeriCorps positions. These positions offer community members the opportunity to receive support while volunteering with their favorite non profit. The opportunity is offered each year from June 1 to May 31.

Requirements
-Must be 18 years or older

-Must be a US citizen of Lawful Permanent Resident

-Pass a background check

-Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Position Description
· Serve 900 hours as an AmeriCorps Member between start and end date of position

· Complete up to 180 hours of training (included in the 900-hour commitment)

· Participate in required service and training events

· Turn in timesheets twice a month

· Avoid Prohibited Activities

The CMHA works to develop, provide, and promote behavioral health prevention to members of the entire campus including to residence life students and employees but will also focus on specific and underserved student populations such as student athletes, LGBTQI+ students, and the Native American and Minority and Veteran, CAMP, and International Program students. Additionally, this position will provide bystander training and related programing and will support students to navigate through campus and community resources more effectively and efficiently.

Recommended: AA/BS degree (or in process) in psychology, social work, or other helping profession or related field. Experience working in or volunteering with a helping profession. Interest in providing direct mentoring and advocacy support services to students. Ability to develop and promote educational and prevention-oriented presentations, discussions, and interactions within a variety of groups and settings.
