Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Outpatient Clinic Director; the Outpatient Clinic Lead shall coordinate billing and follow-up for both Insurance and Private Pay.
The Outpatient Clinic Lead generates daily billing reports; Review claims; errors, transmit electronic claims or mail. Coordinate with Coder prior to billing. Post charges/payments. Generate reports for Outpatient Clinic’s end of month and balance to the Revenue Integrity/Finance departments. Cross trained; Medical Receptionist job duties.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School graduate or equivalent required as recognized by an approved government accreditation association.
- Experience in contacting specialist offices and scheduling appointments.
- Three to five years’ experience in a health care related field.
- Experience in dealing with insurance companies in order to obtain authorizations for studies such as CT Scans, MRI’s, etc.
- Demonstrate knowledge with medical insurance billing methods.
- Demonstrated ability in keyboard proficiency, use of Microsoft Office applications, and office equipment with acceptable speed and accuracy.
- Must be comfortable and compassionate to patient needs with their schedules.
- Must be a self-starter not requiring direction or micro-management.
- Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds in oral and written form.
- Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form.
- An understanding of computer systems, process design and data management.
- Must have a well-groomed, professional appearance.
- Required to have the mental and physical ability to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, the essential functions of the job.
- Ability to lift, carry, pull, & push 50 pounds.
- Language proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal fluency.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPR Certification from the American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or other approved educational programs
- Three to five years’ experience in a lead position.
- An understanding of computer systems, process design and data management.
- Previous AdvancedMD / MEDITECH experience or other related electronic records systems.
