Maintenance and Ops Technician Job at Habematolel Pomo Of Upper Lake
Purpose of the Position: This position will report to the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor. This role will maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly condition. The position is also responsible for taking steps necessary to protect property, eliminate safety hazards, and meet the daily requirements of each property. All offers are contingent upon signing a confidentiality agreement and satisfactory completion of drug screening and background check.
Essential Duties
Update the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor on a regular basis regarding the condition of properties, equipment, and supplies.
Alert Maintenance and Operations Supervisor and others as applicable to urgent matters while working to address and resolve issues.
Work closely and collaboratively with Property Managers by keeping them updated on any relevant changes or information.
Work with Property Managers to generate and implement solutions related to custodial and maintenance services.
Assist with the mirror and major repair, renovation, and remodeling of furnishings and structures, including windows, doors, ramps, and equipment.
Immediately address any potential safety concerns by taking mitigating action and report any such suspected problems/concerns to the Property Manager
as soon as possible.
Assist with custodial duties as needed and in the absence of custodial staff.
Assist with ground safety inspections, including compliance with applicable safety and environmental regulations.
Oversee fire extinguisher maintenance and inspections in compliance with applicable regulations.
Ensure COVID-19 safety compliance by using proper P.P.E. and being up to date on the current requirements.
Assist security in upholding security procedures and responding to emergency situations during and after standard business hours (fire/burglar alarm).
Follow safety procedures when cleaning spills involving chemicals, solvent, blood, body fluids, and/or body tissues; obtain and maintain Bloodborne
Pathogen Training certification.
Assist with receipt and stocking deliveries, including inspecting packages, verifying quantity, and ensuring supplies are labeled and stored safely in
accordance with applicable safety and environmental regulations.
Anticipate and carry out routine maintenance.
Maintain supply storage in an orderly, clean, and safe manner.
Maintain and track maintenance equipment inventory.
Maintain property grounds and equipment to ensure a safe environment that is free of hazards.
Assist with irrigation, seeding, fertilizing, mowing, edging/trimming, and weed control of assigned properties.
Keep assigned external areas and parking lots clean and free of debris, spider webs, etc.
Conduct annual painting of red/yellow/blue zones.
Assist in the evaluation of reports (e.g., equipment manuals and repairs, building codes, professional service contacts, unlawful tenant misuse and damages,
illegal dumping, vehicle abandonment, etc.).
Demonstrate sensitivity to Tribal history, lifestyle, and culture.
Meet established attendance requirements.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or G.E.D. Required.
Minimum one year of related experience or training required.
A valid drivers license and clean driving record are required and must be maintained.
First Aid certificate is required and must be updated.
HAZWOPER certification and experience are required and must be maintained.
Bloodborne Pathogen Training certification is required and must be maintained.

Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for prolonged periods.
Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Ability to work outside in varying climates for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to drive and operate machinery and other equipment as needed.
Good retrieval skills with the ability to safely reach and retrieve, from above head to floor level, objects up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to twist, stoop, reach, squat, kneel, push, pull, and bend for complete shift.
Able to work on ladders and scaffolds and be able to sit, stand, and walk for momentary to extended periods of time.
Sufficient hand-eye coordination, use of hands and fingers to handle work-related items; visual acuity to operate equipment and read technical and safety
information; hearing ability sufficient to perceive and respond to oral communications and ambient sounds both in and out of doors.
Able to safely work with hazardous materials.
Travel as needed.

Drug Screening
Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake requires the successful completion of a drug screening. The Tribe recognizes the State of California has legalized the use of marijuana; however, as an independent sovereign, the Tribe maintains a prohibition of marijuana use by its employees. Marijuana use is prohibited, and all drug tests will include a screening for T.H.C. The Habematolel Pomo of Upper Lake strictly enforces its drug and alcohol policy, and all employees are required to sign a Consent to Drug and/or Alcohol Testing. Employees may be selected for alcohol and/or drug testing upon reasonable suspicion or accident.
Background Check
Candidates must submit and will be subject to criminal background and reference checks, which may include fingerprinting. Verification of previous employment and education will be conducted after the interview if a conditional offer of employment is being considered.
