Our Maintenance Engineers are responsible for supporting the Engineering department with completing repairs and maintenance throughout our property. We are a collaborative team that strives for excellence and building an experience that is memorable, welcoming, and unique for our guests. They are empowered to move about their space and do what needs to be done to resolve problems for guests and team members, and maintain safety requirements throughout the property.
Job Summary
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for hotel guestroom preventative maintenance and assists their team in repairs and maintenance of hotel equipment. This positions requires a flexible schedule; may occasionally be required to work weekends and/or holidays.
Job Duties
- Respond to all guest's requests in a timely and efficient manner
- Complete work order requests in a timely manner
- Maintain all mechanical areas in an orderly and clean condition
- Inspect public areas daily for any issues
- Complete repairs, including plumbing, electrical, heating, cooling, ventilation, furnishing and fixtures, painting, wall cover repairs, light carpentry, door and window repairs
- Maintain the Rooms Preventative Maintenance Program and consistently keep updated records on file
- Have knowledge of swimming pool maintenance and chemicals
- Effectively and professionally communicate with co-workers and supervisors. Follow company policies and procedures
- Perform skilled repair and maintenance operations using power tools, hand tools, welding equipment
- Maintain working spaces in safe and clean condition
- Know hotels emergency procedures and where all emergency shut-offs are located
- Assist hotel guests when necessary in case of an emergency
- Perform special projects as assigned
- Support environmental commitments by having knowledge, skills, and values to be a leader in the global goal of "greening" the hospitality industry.
- Maintain high standards in all aspects of internal and external service
- Promote unity and teamwork throughout the department
- Communicate with guests in a professional, courteous and helpful manner
- Watch for safety hazards, take immediate corrective action and report them immediately to your Department Supervisor
- Ensures all service standards are met and adhered to
- Ensure guest rooms, public spaces, hallways, stairwells, closets, and housekeeping carts maintain standards
- Effectively work with team members to accomplish assigned tasks each day
- Work in a safe manner to prevent injury to yourself, other staff members or our valued guests
Minimum Requirements
- Flexible work schedule; may occasionally be required to work weekends and holidays
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Prior maintenance experience
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of general repairs and maintenance
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling a plus
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, co‑workers and management to their understanding
- Ability to read, write, and understand simple instructions
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Ability to make sounds decisions when resolving problems
- Detail oriented as it pertains to accuracy and efficiency
- Ability to move, traverse, position self to reach corners on floors and high places; observe conditions, detect odors, position and navigate carts weighing up to 200lbs in tight spaces; operate equipment including spray bottles, vacuums, mops, brooms, floor buffers. Lift, carry and position loads of at least 25lbs. These abilities are required for an entire shift
