POSITION TITLE: Maintenance Manager
REPORTS TO: Plant Manager / General Manager
SUMMARY
Coordinate the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of production or processing machines and equipment with minimal downtime. Involves checking, setting up, and operating various production tools and equipment before approving production use.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Report to Plant Manager any information that may impede the operation of the plant as soon as it becomes known.
Must be on call twenty-four hours a day.
Monitor warranties and service guarantees. Notify personnel of impending expiration dates.
Conduct selective inventory monthly and verify with computer-based inventory of maintenance parts and supplies.
Locate O.E.M. manufacturers and after-market distributors in order to obtain competitive costs on parts or improved service.
Order parts and supplies. Oversee bar code scanning of parts inventory.
Establish high morale throughout your department by showing fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee problems.
Maintain confidentiality of employees and proprietary information.
Develop, initiate, and maintain a cost-effective preventive maintenance program.
Monitor water treatment of the boiler in the corrugator area.
Oversee and plan contract work and installations done by outside vendors.
Work alongside Safety Quality Manager to assist with areas of concern.
Conduct weekly Production/Safety meetings with department personnel.
Assist with the selection, evaluation, and installation of capital and expense projects.
Conduct interviews for department staff.
Recognize skill deficits in a department team and actively train to bridge their knowledge base.
Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including union contracts, safety programs, and good housekeeping.
Additional duties may be assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises all employees assigned to the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; conflict resolution; team building; coaching and leading employees to improve; addressing complaints and resolving problems; documentation; and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude, and performance.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED.
Computer/Data entry skills.
Demonstrated personnel supervisory skills.
Four years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing plant.
Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:
College and/or related technical courses.
Five years of experience in the corrugated box industry with heavy experience in electronics,
mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:
Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation. This also supports the manager's role of teacher and trainer for his/her personnel.
Cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and will help the manager find areas that require improvement.
Quality standards.
Regulatory requirements include but not limited to wage and hour requirements, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements including OSHA, DEQ, and EEO.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other appropriate certification to work in certain areas or on certain equipment.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Demonstrated confidence including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of professional assertiveness.
Professional appearance to support his/her role as a managerial representative of the company.

The performance of the supervisor will be measured as follows:
Operating standards – The manager will need to meet or exceed the Operating Standards in the areas of quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction, and productivity.
Personal growth - While the company will provide the tools to assist the manager to grow professionally the responsibility for moving forward lies with the individual. Each year there will be goals developed and agreed to by the plant
Employee relations - Through observations, the manager will be evaluated regarding his/her skills and advancements in the areas of motivational techniques and results, positive and corrective/constructive feedback, subordinate development, and creating a positive work environment.
Creativity - this will be evaluated by how active the manager is in participating in advancing the business through new and innovative ideas.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
