JOB DESCRIPTION:
Performs difficult advanced technical work coordinating and managing operations and maintenance processes of the Parks and Recreation Parks Division, prepares divisional budget, collaborates with other divisions/departments and City officials, preparing and maintaining records and reports, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the general direction of the Director of Parks and Recreation. Supervision is exercised over all personnel within the division.

The Park Maintenance Superintendent will ensure proper maintenance and repair of all parks, athletic fields, city maintained landscaping, and recreational facilities. The ideal candidate will be results driven, motivated by challenges and has excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills. They will also have significant experience with operations and maintenance processes of parks, facilities, and open space maintenance; comprehensive knowledge of methods, tools, equipment and materials used in general construction and repair work; comprehensive knowledge of pesticide applicable procedures and methods; and comprehensive knowledge of safety practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree with coursework in parks and recreation, parks resource management, or related field and extensive experience in parks maintenance and horticulture, including considerable supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Obtain National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification within one (1) year of hire.
Obtain Certified Applicator License issued by Arizona Department of Agriculture (AZDA) within one (1) year of hire.
National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) training based on assignment.
Must meet and maintain all training and education requirements for position.
Valid Arizona Driver License of appropriate class.

The succeeding examination processes may be required: training and experience, testing, panel interview, employment eligibility verification (EEV) requirements, personnel evaluation profile (PEP), polygraph test, background investigation and alcohol/drug screening test. Appointment subject to successful background investigation and City paid post-employment medical examination after offer of employment has been made.
