MDF Strapper Operator – Moncure, NC
12-Hour Rotating Shift
SUMMARY
The Strapper Operator is responsible for the general output of finished goods. They are responsible for directly or indirectly ensuring AMS production reporting, quality inspections, maintaining production line (outfeed of stacking stations to outfeed of strapping stations), and providing operational feedback (both quality and production) to team leaders and Sander/Saw Operators. Strapper Operators are required to wear all standardized Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) common to the finishing department as well as gloves when handling strapping or runners. They are responsible for maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the work area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure forklift shift inspections are documented if used.
  • Conduct required quality checks.
  • Ensure samples are pulled as required, documented, and delivered to the Quality lab timely.
  • Ensure AMS operation for documentation of production.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and organized work area, and monitor work area for safe operation.
  • Maintain AMS and validate production orders.
  • Organize Utility Operators as required during breaks, lunch, and to prevent downtime.
  • Perform and document strap band tension as required.
  • Perform daily checklist.
  • Immediately report quality issues to the team leader and Sander/Saw Operator.
  • Provide downtime information to Sander/Saw Operator.
  • Document and maintain productivity logs (computer generated as well as paper).
  • Responsible for housekeeping of strapper stations and/or 5S map.
  • Rotate with forklift driver and Utility Operator to maintain working knowledge.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work in a team environment in order to achieve higher engagement and empowerment, cross-training, and personal growth.

  • Assist team in making good business decisions.
  • Help with belt changes.
  • Rework Q1 hold bundles on shift.
  • Effective communication not only with your shift team members but other shift members as well.
  • Speak up when team members are not performing or seen not doing the job correctly around Safety, Quality, Production.
  • Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. of force regularly to move objects.
  • Combination of standing, sitting or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Required to wear hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes, and other PPE as required.
  • High school diploma or GED, additional education a plus.
  • 1 to 3 years’ experience in an automated manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning and organizational skills to attain high levels of performance.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support others in the team.
  • Forklift Operation Experience Required.
