Hookerton Family Practice is a local primary care office that was established in 2006. Hookerton Family Practice provides quality health care in a timely fashion. We also have a full lab and x-ray that provides for EKG's and drug screening. We handle worker's comp cases, and corporate accounts.
Position Summary
The Medical Assistant/ Phlebotomist works interdependently with other medical professionals to provide quality health care to the patient. This position provides direct patient care under the direction of a physician by performing high quality, compassionate customer service and clinical care.
Essential Functions
- Interview patients for case histories prior to appointments
- Schedule and coordinate appointments
- Assist patients with initial paperwork
- Accurately update and maintain patients' health records
- Measure and record patient vital signs
- Clean and maintain patient exam rooms
- Communicate test results to patients when directed by physicians or nursing professionals
- Assist patients with re-scheduling appointments and other scheduling issues
- Orders and maintains clinical supplies, office supplies, and equipment.
Qualifications
- AHA BLS Certification required upon hire.
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
- High school graduate or equivalent required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of basic medical procedures
- Strong computer skills
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with patients and medical staff
- Ability to comfortably perform and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to follow the protocols and procedures established by the practice
Working Conditions
- Standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Physical demands include periods of sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Use of the telephone, computer and other related instruments or devices while communicating with patients, caregivers, physicians, and staff. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
